Been without a front plate since 2009 on two cars. Then again, I've avoided the highway patrol on the interstates. It seems the state troopers will harp on this one when they can. Williamson and Travis cops don't care unless maybe they're having a really bad day. My car sticks out like a sore thumb too.

The one time I did get pulled over was because Toyota never gave me an inspection sticker. Round Rock cop did not care my front license plate was missing.

That's the thing though. I've driven all over texas without the front plate, and had never been pulled over. But here at home, was when I was pulled over.

Just move to CO instead.

My full blown race car is licensed & insured and I drive it on the road all the time.
I have seatbelts, a windshield & brake lights and that's it.
No turn signals (use hand signals), no windshield wipers (dont drive in rain) and no headlights (daytime only).
I dont even need emissions because it is "classic".

...or a Texas county that doesn't do emissions testing. Which is all but like 7 or 8.

you'll be fine mod wise....as a San Diegan who just moved to TX, think long and hard about making the move.

PM me if you've got questions about the transition

i believe only some texas counties (major metro areas) have stricter emmisions regulations, or at least they did a few years ago when they stick the meter in your tailpipe. think rubber glove with the white coat treatment. now i believe it is all via OBD II connection.
