370Z vs Ft86

Dear ft86 enthusiasts.

What do you guys/gals think about recent 370Z price?

NISSAN dropped the price down to 29k since last month, I guess they want to compete with frs/brz.

If you're about to purchase new affordable sports car, would you get Z since Z is only 2k more than FR-S?

I'm strongly considering to trade in my FR-S for 370Z. 333 hp vs 200 hp, 3.7 vs 2.0 and v6 vs 4 cylinder for only 2k difference is bothering me too much these days.

I want to hear opinions

Thank you.

It's just one person's opinion, but here's Chris Harris' take on the two cars:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUhLXvxlQR4"]Toyota GT86 / Scion FR-S v Nissan 370Z v Used Porsche Cayman S - /CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS - YouTube[/ame]

I thought about a 370z, but the back seat actually made the difference for me. Otherwise, if you want more raw speed, the 370 is the way to go. If you want more of a dance partner, the FT86 is the way to go. Both are great cars.

The 370z is a awesome car! I love it, but the only issue is it's strictly a 2 seater and that is a big no-no for me.

I have had many cases where i needed the back seat.

And another factor is weight...it's a heavy cow. One other reason i never liked the bmw 335i, the weight could be felt!

I just bought a 2015 FRS and I strongly considered the 370Z as well. I wanted a car primarily for track and Sunday drives. The back seat in the FRS was a plus but not what solidified the deal. The FRS is easier to maintain and live with then the 370. Every time I looked into the wear and tear items the 370 came out to much more expensive without much more reward. The FRS was more fun to drive and in my opinion has a better chassis feel. Not to mention consumables at the track are cheaper as well with the FRS. So I guess you could say it came down to value for me. The FRS presented the most fun for the dollar vs the anything else.

Pretty sure it dropped to 29k a few years ago. Either way they are both nice cars

I owned a 370z before jumping into the 86. The 370z is nice and i loved it as well. You really cant go wrong either way.

For me however, I enjoy the 86 as there is a little more usable room to and from the track. I couldn't even consider putting half the stuff i put into the 86.

While "spiritedly driving" the 370z, I would get high oil temperatures that deterred me from really pushing it.

On the 86 I am able to use and climb the RPMS before letting off. In the 370z, I would be letting of early due to the HP.

I was getting 21-23 MPG in the 370z compared to 28-30 in the 86.

visit w w w.the370z.com for good info

The 370z is nice, but I am glad I made the switch.

...you can lead a 370 suspension to water, but you can't make it handle like an FRS/BRZ.

Like comparing apples to bananas. They really are beasts of a different colour.

That said, I've read multiple reviews that say the better over-all car out of the 2 is the FT86.

I did a LOT of research when looking into options to replace my 335i, including 370Z, Genesis Coupe, and the twins, and all signs and readings and research I did pointed to the FT86 being the best all-around. Yes, the Genesis and 370Z have more power, which almost swayed me considering I was coming from a car that was close to 400hp, but it's the over-all experience that matters most.

I've driven enough 370Z's to form a pretty good opinion of them, and I've always left the car finding myself wanting.

Go to the 370z forums and see what their opinions are.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Enthusiast package (the one that is $29k) doesn't include an LSD, and needs an oil cooler if you even plan to look at a track with it.

Weighs more, will need more expensive tires, brakes, etc. Overall it's a more expensive car to maintain as well, more to consider than just the base price.

The twins need an oil cooler to track too.

And I thought that computer rev match button was weird, now the 2016 370Z will even come with fake engine sound coming out of its best offered somewhere else sound system inside the cabin.

Looks like comparing the 370 to the twins is like comparing the Genesis Coupe to the twins.
