Curious dummy.

@Darton sleeved FA20
My HKS crank will be here next week,
Pistons are done at 89.5mm
Next is custom rods.

13:1 CR 2.27 ltr engine

Toda in no way has made any progress on this kit that I know of. Maybe will be out for SEMA in November.

Because of a couple things...

1) closed deck blocks are more expensive and time consuming to produce
2) this means that they actually built their own moulds to produce the block, which is a huge undertaking for an aftermarket manufacturer.

Closed deck is much stronger, and more reliable under extereme use.

All the money you spent on 300ccs with a complete motor overhaul to install it when you could just bolt on the mildest of supercharger or turbo kits that would outperform it on every aspect, why again?

Becuase no replacement for displacement? Can always bolt a turbo or supercharger to a 2.3l too.....not everybody wants to be the same, would be a boring world if everybody did the same thing.

The idea of somebody with a popgun four banger trying to use knuckledragging musclecar catchphrases is amusing. Because it's a stunning waste of money with terrible return on investment?

HKS 2.1 kit, about $3900. http://www.hks-power.co.jp/product_search/product/724
HKS cams, about $1800. http://www.hks-power.co.jp/product_db/engine/db/15662

Total engine teardown and reassembly with all part and labor costs. $X?

Result? 10, 10 FRIGGIN HORSEPOWER!

HKS supercharger kit, about $3800. http://www.hks-power.co.jp/product_d...arger/db/15607

Result? 50+ horsepower with options for more power and it all bolts on.

Sorry. If you spend all that money and do all that work just to pick up a dime at the rear wheels, that's absolutely, unequivocally and painfully stupid.
There are engines that pay you back with balls to the wall NA builds, the FA20 is most decidedly NOT one of them.

Waste your money as you will. I will not follow suit so your hopes of being unique will be realized.

If you read the page the ECU is original for 10HP. Its a stock rom.
I also think its a stock header and overpipe as Kansai does not list those parts on their site.

You are a bad scientist, not a mad scientist. People who build NA cars are not the same people who build boosted ones.

You know what's a stunning waste of money? Someone spending $30K on a 'lightweight' NA DD car only to spend 20% more on top of that to add more weight and complexity when you cloud have just bought a BMW or Mustang (if you're so into the moar powah=better argument).

In what world is the 86 a run of the mill daily driver car? You didn't outright say it but it sounds like you're implying its on par with something like a corolla or an altima.

It's a budget performance car marketed to a demographic of enthusiasts who like fucking around with their car. We don't do things because they're logical, we do it because we have an inexpiable compulsion to customize things.

Just let the man spend his money however way he likes and just be glad he's documenting it.

1-In my world it's my DD. Don't try to imply anything for me, I can manage what I mean on my own without your help, thanks. I have 4 cars and it's the perfect DD for me. Hauls shit, gets great MPG and is fun to drive. A daily driver is not the same as an 'appliance' on wheels. I don't know what world you live in where you can only DD a Corolla. Pretty sure most people that own an 86 use it as a DD whereas most people that have a Miata use it as a toy for example.

2-I wasn't telling anyone how to spend their money. I was arguing against the guy trying to tell other people how to spend their money. So please pay attention next time you jump into a thread and call people out.
