PS. on my way over to the dealer (i was still a couple miles away), I spotted the FR-S on the road. It was the craziest thing. I saw and identified it immediately. the sales manager had taken it out to fill up the tank.

took a quick video:

Man, Toyota of Wilmington are being a-holes. They are trying to tell me that the FR-S is coming with BeSpoke, 3M Paint Protection, Window Tint, Mudflaps, and other BS whether I want it or not. Can you believe that? They are called options for a reason.

I've contacted Alan H. at Leith Toyota in Raleigh, and left a message, so I'm hoping that experience goes a bit better. I've also contacted Scion Corporate about what Toyota of Wilmington is trying to pull.

the ones already on their way are put together with dealer's specs. if you want one without those options, you should be able to place your customized order with any dealer. my guy at Leith (don satterly i think) was offering that exact thing even though I told him i had a BRZ on order already.

So Leith is letting you set up customized orders?

I went and checked out (and drove) the Black AT at Scion of Apex on Friday. I am in the market for a Ultramarine 6MT with none of the aftermarket options (I could live with tint and maybe paint film) but have no desire for Bespoke or mudflaps, etc. Anwyay, the salesman at Scion of Apex basically told me they have no input on what they get, its pretty much out of their control what Scion sends them. I would love to be able to place my own order and get one equipped exactly as I like, but I don't think thats an option at this point. I am hoping Scion gets the ball rolling and starts shipping tons of these things so that I can find "my car" whether it means dealer transfer or buying from elsewhere.

Sounds very similar to what I'm hearing in Wilmington. I've contacted Scion Corporate to see if they have any helpful information. Won't hear back until after the holiday weekend I imagine. I'll post back with what I hear.

EDIT: Welcome to the forums, getbent

the sales guy told me we could go inside and place an order exactly to my specs, but it may take 3-4 months for a manual to come in that way.

I appreciate the info. I've left a voice mail with a salesperson at Leith and am waiting to hear back. 3-4 months would be perfectly fine for me if it means getting what I want.

Go on scion.com, and build the fr-s you won't. It then will match you up with the closet one and give you the last 6 or 8 of the vin number. Print the info out and take it to the general manager. Should only take them 2-4 days to get it in. There are around 40 fr-s at the port as we speak

It doesn't really matter whether you go to Leith or Fred Anderson; just call each beforehand to make sure you'll be able to see an FR-S or test drive one. I've bought a car from Fred Anderson before and had a pleasant sales experience though, so if you'd like a referral I can recommend my salesperson over there.
