Oh and on topic just how many freakn' Camaros are there around Detroit anyway. I bet I saw 50 in a 5 minute period this week. At one intersection there were two waiting in every direction.
Actually I keep seeing Challengers EVERYWHERE in London, ON!
Not just on the street, but also on transport trucks (might be because they're built around here).

They've been bit before by changing the body style too much (that's what killed it off in the last couple of gens).

Good article about this recently in this month's Automobile, but don't have it with me.

Also, the front and rear facias of the new one is built in a way that could be substantially changed in the future if it was decided to go that way.

I'm personally looking forward to seeing the new one in person as I really like the way it looks in photos. Had this been the Camaro being sold in 2012, I probably would not be driving the FR-S.
Same here, but the counter argument was a fun daily driver that gets good gas mileage, lol.

There are a pile of them on the streets here yes! When I head to Windsor twice a week I am guaranteed to see at least 4 or 5 truck loads heading to the States every trip. The truck drivers also stay at a Motel in Woodstock and I have seen as many as 8 trucks loaded with them parked there.
Still has nothing on the number of Camaros around Detroit though.

True, but at the time, even the ZL1 would have been an improvement (or at least a match) over my Daily Driver that was averaging about 18MPG.

The newer Camaro is much better on the highway if that's your commute style with the cylinder cutoffs, but that wasn't available on my 2002. Just the silly skip shift that everyone hated.

By the way, is that skip shift still on the newer models? I never even checked. I know it can be disabled and whatnot, but I found it pretty meaningless.

Didn't have it on the 14 I looked at.

The reason I don't like to buy American and Korean cars because new models are usually have dramatic improvement and make older model lose value and looks like crap. Unlike Japanese cars, improvement is usually very subtle.

I don't know about that. There can be some pretty big changes with the Japanese ones as well.

Skip shift is still on all manual SS Camaros. Same engagement parameters still apply as before. Like you said, most people eliminate it (you can just unplug it), but it is annoying. It allows the SS to avoid gas guzzler tax though, so I can't complain too much.

2016 Camaro 2.0 Turbo???

From a DD perspective:

Seems appetizing. 30+ mpg I'm sure. Unfortunately, data not out yet.

Anyone like these beasts? Would you consider a 4cyl Camaro>their twin?

Lately, it seems like American car companies are starting to rival import's harder and harder. Less of a choice now. Especially looking at price. Looking at Consumer Guide/Time, I read that American companies have been increasing in popularity (% wise) more than imports.

Well, considering the domestic companies have had 30+ years to get start getting their collective acts together, it's about time! Maybe the domestic brands can take a play right out of the imports book and reverse engineer their cars and then make better clones. I'll admit, there's very little coming out of the import scene that excites me anymore, unless you're going for the cars that are pushing 6 figures. Just watching MAPperformance's thread about their ecoboost Mustang makes me want to get one! (if only it were smaller in size and weighed less)

I'm a Camaro fan, but there is absolutely no chance I would buy one with a turbo 4 in it as a replacement for the FR-S. I would consider the V6, but in the end if I'm going to own a Camaro, I'm going to own a proper Camaro, which means V8 with max torque, otherwise it's just a poser Camaro.

These were the top two contenders in my buy list in 2012, and it came down to the Camaro I would have been satisfied with would have been twice the price of the FR-S, which I am satisfied with as is.

This is no different than if the FR-S had a 6 or 8 option. I would have bought the larger displacement.
