out of curiosity how much was the rebuild cost?
i saw one with very similar damage and the repair bill was well over 20K
this was all done at a shop so i could see you saving quite a bit doing what you can yourself, but it would have to be.. well below 10 to justify spending the money vice buying a used one for 20K with a clean title

I was saving money while doing rebuild. Parts + bodywork + painting was less than 3000 euros (less than ~$3500). Of course that does not include time spent doing the rebuild. But as JSimon said, it is labour of love

So far, so good. Did not have chance to test it much, yet. However, I can say that it has a crappy wifi receiver. But interface is definitely responsive, there are no lags, and boot times are very good (as for Android system). I also have rear view camera connected to it. The biggest PITA is fitting. Although head-unit has same dimensions face-plate as stock unit, it sits further back. The face of radio does not pop-out as much as on stock one. Unit needs to be pushed out for flush fit. Thus modifications to mounting bracket and plastic faceplate are needed .

Thanks for good words everyone! Did not have chance to drive it, yet. Working whole weekend. Yesterday I had 15h shift. Need to earn some money for mods

HAPPY HAPPY, FUN FUN

Driven car for some time today. I always knew complaints people had about this car, but I did not notice ANY of them.
  • Lack of power?! For me it pulls like crazy (because I am used to drive ~65kW (80HP) cars). Even in 3'rd gear rear kicked out in the corner when I pushed throttle a bit (with stability on). Just touch the gas and there is immediate reaction (no turbo lag, lol). Still did not try WOT
  • Crappy second gear?! Never had an issue with any gear not going it. All gears feel very natural and I got used to it very quickly. I can simply feel which gear it needs to be in. It is smoothest (by far) gearbox I have ever driven. However, I must say that I have not driven it with stock transmission fluid. Changed to Motul 300 while I had under-covers removed.
  • Rear seats are useless?! I am 1.75m tall (5'9") and there is definitely enough leg room for passenger in the back with my normal seating position
  • Stock tires do not have enough grip?! Well, yes - they do not

Can't give any promises on photo shoot day. In first place I need to perfectly clean and wax/nano-coat the car. But I am quite busy this week, not sure if I will have enough time

P.S. Somehow my average MPG is 21 now. I heard this car can do better

Drive like as slow as someone with 80hp. Then it will get good mileage.
