Spec d headlights
I'm looking to switch to HID headlights and found spec d lights. I didn't find any reviews on them and was wondering if anyone has these or knows anyone who does.

have them and love them; well worth the money IMO. I bought the lights and HID kit (Mishimoto HID kit) separate from FTEightySix last year when they were first released (I got the 6000k kit because I wanted the lights to match the boomerang as best as possible), so made for an interesting install (I see this site offers the HIS kit pre-installed so could be of great benefit for the 'plug and play' user).....the final product is amazing though!
PM me if you have any specific questions

For HID's, use a D2S bulb, not H1's. D2S fits the housing's perfect. H1's don't quite work well.
I had to convert my stock HID setup to D2S > AMP so I didn't have to ditch my ballasts. Been working well over a year now just fine. |

Can I slightly hijack this thread?
If I want these, what all do I need to install them? I keep reading about D2S, AMP, ballasts, H7 bulbs, etc. Some I read need the original car to be the HID models. Some come with kits? I'm about to buy a base model FRS. I just want these or Winjet headlights, Valenti taillights, fog lights, and an aftermarket front indicator. I don't want to buy anything I won't be able to use. Any advice is appreciated! |

YouTube was my biggest friend during the entire install process for the Spec-D lights and the HID kit, up to the point of actually installing the bulbs into the headlight. The black cover that screws off at the back of the headlight, didn't allow for enough room of an HID bulb and the wiring, so I had to cut off a portion of each cover to allow for the bulb to fit into the socket so that I could screw the black cover onto the back. Other than that though the install went well. There are the bulbs I bought; bought the 6000K bulbs because they are the closest match to the boomerang light: http://www.fteightysix.com/appearanc...elite-hid-kit/ I'll upload a photo later today to show you how they look on my car

I don't have H1 bulbs, I have D2S bulbs and they fit in no problem and just clipped them in; it was the housing portion that was the most difficult

What is the difference between the H-1 and the D2S bulbs? I thought the Spec D lights HAD to have the H1 light bulbs if you wanted to have HID lights.

so i got h1 thinking it owuld be perfect fit. hella no. idk how they even possibly are supposed to go in as they are too small to even clip in. i had to fiddle with the placement (while on) to adjust the lighting so it actaully worked. im on vacation and havent even gotten to do the other side. the D2S bulbs do look like they have the proper fitment (witht he little notch cut out)
