I just went for my first fill up in my MT Limited and got 21.2 MPG, although I'm purposely not driving it super efficient while I break it in (don't want to stay at the same speed for too long, so I'm slowly accelerating and decelerating all of the time which isn't great for fuel efficiency).

60mpg consistently is a bit sketch sounding unless they don't have stop signs/lights around but 60mpg at say 40mph cruising in 6th gear is plausible. Gotta love that 0.582 6th gear, 1300rpm lol.

However with a MT you can use the higher gears below 30mph so with hardcore frequently shifting to not stall, you can probably pull the most utterly ridiculous city mpg off.

Mine is not that had but I feel your pain. In time we will both be happily enjoying half the cylinders and twice the fun!

What are you driving now? (sorry to thread jack) I'm nervous about going from a 354whp/361lbft torque monster to the BRZ, lol. It will be more rewarding when I have to fill up less and get to have more fun at autocrosses/everyday though. You just can't use all of that power in NY other than getting on highways and passing people, lol.

Is Japan downhill no matter where you go?

Maybe they meant 45-60km/gallon

I noticed the avg. fuel economy went up considerably over time when I got my new Audi in January. I've put about 8,500 miles on it so far and it's gone up from a long-time average of 19mpg to 22.1mpg. The EPA estimates it gets up to 27mpg on the highway; I averaged 30mpg on my last 80 mile trip. I think we can do better than what the EPA estimates. It all depends on your driving style and traffic conditions, though.

2005 CTS-V. I wanted to try an American V8. Now that I can check it off my bucket list, I am ready to move on. To your good point about usable power... I think one element of that is the size/weight of cars like the CTS-V and G8. They've got sporting flavor but ultimately they're cruisers. I want to get back in to a smaller/lighter platform.

Most definitely. This is where smooth inputs and looking ahead can really make a difference. Example: Approaching intersections, I often look at the cross-traffic signals to know when mine will turn green... why hurry and stop at a red light when you can roll through without wasting energy?

Another data point: 30.1 MPG

That's after about 750 miles.
