I agree, we gotta get a lot more traffic to hit the numbers required to get the 18's into production! (free bump for the cause) =p

Can 5AD also release the S5:F in 18's for the FR-S, please?

Matt Teske wants to know out of all of the people voting for the 18's, how many would actually buy them. I will

Hi Michael,

Thank you for the feedback on this. We have been monitoring ft86club.com website as a whole for some time now. We do know that many of the members at ft86club.com are more track/performance oriented enthusiasts, so we are not surprised to see that the preferred size would be 18" for the S7:F.

That said, regardless of how many members at ft86club.com think that 18" is a better size of wheel, we need to know who would actually buy the S7:F wheel in 18", as opposed to just noting that they think 18" is a better diameter for the FR-S.

So, of the 38 responses that have said the FIVE:AD S7:F wheel should be 18", how many of those 38 would step up and buy the wheel? That will definitely be the deciding factor for us considering to produce the S7:F in 18" moving forward. A 17" size is simply out of the question, as that would definitely alter the look of the wheel design too much.

Again, we truly appreciate your help and enthusiasm. Keep us posted on what further details you find through the thread. Any questions, feel free to let us know.

Thanks!

Too heavy, so I won't be. I forget what the name of them was, but one of the 5AD styles I really liked, visually. But the size and weight crossed them off my list. Sub-18lbs at 17x8 or 18x8 is my target.

I believe that 18's are a fair compromise for everyone as it doesn't hurt performance (although it isn't optimal) and it doesn't hurt the design of the wheel.

I think 18's will be fine for the street. Not everybody is going to track this car.
Yes.. barely.. but with 235 width tires instead of 215.. not exactly a fair comparison if your interest is solely comparing wheel diameter. Bigger wheels can be faster within reason but we aren't talking much sidewall height already here...

I agree with Draco's targets. I have no idea what these wheels would weigh though.

The problem with moving this thread is you have to pick.. FRS or BRZ? Most people in one side never read the other side.

Instead I'd suggest posting a thread with a link to this one in each.

Yes, the weight of them would be a problem. But then again the weight of the 19's would be an even bigger problem.

That's why 18's in the case of Five Axis, should at least be offered. They most likely will weigh quite a bit more than low weight track 18's but for everyday driving the S7 wheel's would be fine.

The whole point of this thread was not to compare weight of an 18" rim but to compare and vote on whether an 18" rim should be made by Five Axis with their S7 rim and possibly even the rest of their lineup instead of a 19" rim.

Again. 19's are too big and are definitely going to be too heavy for this car but an 18" rim would at least be lighter and not hurt performance as much.

But Five Axis is by in large related more to Scion than Subaru. Five Axis didn't make this kit for the Subie.

This kit will not be available at a Subaru dealership. Only Scion. That's why I was suggesting it stay in the Scion FR-S general discussion.

To be honest, I'm looking for a nice in between point with this car.

Looks and performance are 50/50 to me. I don't know about anyone else. Five Axis has by far the best looking wheels that fit on this car than any of the others I have seen.

I would by some 17's for this car for track use but would ride the 18's for DD.

I just can't bring myself to put 19's on this car. At all.

5AD would sell the wheels to anyone though I'd assume? If not they shouldn't worry about how many people here will buy them... they are limiting themselves

I'm actually seriously looking at buying the S7's for my BRZ, I think the 19's will actually not look bad when its all said and done... Aren't those 19's on the CBS FRS with the Five Axis car?
