Now that said what it lacks in paint, materials, engineering, and build quality to more then makes up for in character. It's simply beautiful to look at feels perfect to drive. My favorite steering rack by far; with the turbo, brake upgrades and the stickers tires I'm very happy with it.
Just wanted to keep this around for later. Another vote for POS.

I've had both taillights fog-dealer fixed
Crickets, I guess, I never complained about it.
Rear deck pop-still have it-doesn't bother me
Window screech-dealer fixed
idle rpm crash, rough idle, several attempts to start-dealer fixed

I'm not pleased with the quality. My 99 mustang gave me less trouble. There's no other new car in this price range I'd prefer over this though, so it is what it is.

I agree. Generally, quality is heading in a downward trend. I have bought Hondas for years, but the latest models are bad.

My 2014 BRZ has been great. I still think that early models had issues, just like any other first year of release.

My BRZ is at the dealer right now...I am as nervous as usual...got to start doing my own work for piece of mind.

My car has 73,000 kms on it now, and I have had some issues. Both tail lights (one under warranty, one just after), both door window seals (warranty), the little 1/4 window/seal in the driver's door twice now (warranty), the complete dash (warranty...for coming un-glued above center vents), a sticking right front brake caliper, and those damn crickets.

Is this a high quality car? No. Am I complaining? No. I have been waiting many years for the Japanese auto makers to bring another lightweight affordable rear drive coupe to market, and I'm glad they did. It's going to take a lot more than a few minor issues over 3 years to make me regret my purchase. I've owned a lot of cars over the last 25 years, and this car is the most enjoyable one to drive by a wide margin.

New cars don't seem to be as solidly built or reliable as they once were across the board. I blame mandated and consumer-desired complexity and the struggle to keep costs down which has to impact the design and manufacturing processes.

So far my BRZ is not doing anything strange. I just did my biweekly LTI and one thing I do is check those covers on the backs of the cylinder heads for oil leaks. I'm not going to be pissed if I find one because I know to look for it and I'll fix it before it hurts the car.

These aren't cheap cars, but they are very much budget level in the context of the whole lineup so something has to give. Run of the mill loose things or rapid wear really wouldn't surprise me at this price point. If some of these items were popping up on a WRX, I would be less understanding.

This forum is a great resource for knowing what to check on your car, be aware, check you car and don't let a shady dealer BS you.

If you want a reliable Honda, you will need to buy a 20 year old one because they have all sorts of problems these days. My coworkers new Fit has had multiple recall items and a bunch of problems. The amount of crap he has gone through is infuriating. I offered to steal it, light it on fire, put it in drive and let it scream into the showroom window of the dealer he bought it from.

He now sounds like a person in an abusive relationship saying things like"it's getting better." No it isn't. You got a lemon.

How is it that people saying they have had no issues is making excuses? You did notice that most of the people that had issues are 13s right? First year cars always have problems even your beloved Hondas.
Opposing viewpoints and debate are weclcome but your constant blanket statements are just pure hogwash. Pretty sure you did meet your goal by pissing off at least me though.
