Trunk issue

Anyone else have problems with the trunk not closing properly? I have to slam it to get it to stay closed. Dealer says that's the way it's supposed to be. Also, when I release it, it only pops, but doesn't open. Dealer also says that that is normal.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

I also have to slam mines a bit to close and the trunk only popping and not opening all the way is normal as well.

Trunk will not open on its own. That's normal for the mechanism.

Shouldn't have to slam it. Latch set too tight? Mine latches dropped only from a few inches.

The inside latch mechanism is held on with a few screws. Make sure it hasn't shifted up.

90% of the time I have to attempt to close it more than once. The trunk door is very light and it takes a strong fast push down (Almost slam) to close it compared to most cars I've used. Probably the only pet peeve I have with the car as I use the trunk every day.

It certainly is not just dropping it. Probably something with the '15 latches? I'll try to take a video and post.

I have a '15 BRZ and it definitely takes more of a slam to shut the trunk than any other car I've driven. Dropping it definitely won't close it, but it seems to be normal behavior.

Found some vid samples online.

For me it is certainly not this easy. Would love it to be like that. (Min 10:55)

Mine requires the amount of force similar to what Matt applies in this vid: (Min36:22)

I have to slam mine down as well... lol. it also rises too quick. I have to use my hand to slow it down when I open my trunk.

I have a 2013 and it is VERY easy to open fully and close;much easier than a 2011 Toyota Highlander and a 1993 Saturn SW2. I've performed those operations with only my pinkie finger before when I had my hands mostly full.

Perhaps the newer versions are harder to operate?

Thanks all. Took it to the dealer and they said it was normal. Maybe I'll take it to another place to have them look at it.
