This is my car on TRD lowering springs. The wheels/tires are stock size, but a 1/4" ish further out with these wheels.

So if one were to purchase TRD Springs on their own, would I want to go to the dealer to request install / alignment or just take it to any regular shop?

I would check with your dealer as to whether they would cover warranty if someplace does the installation. Some dealers are much more reasonable than others.

Fair enough. Cars coming up to 20k mi, and I don't have any extended warranty at all so part of me thinks it doesn't matter as long as it is actually done right.

There is that. If not worried about warranty just do it yourself.

I am currently between garages Making car work more of an.. Investment of effort.. Than it was before. Yay apartment living. But it's a nice place at least. I'd probably pay the premium to have a shop do the installation and alinement same time.

Please keep in mind that the dealer can only void a warranty for parts directly affected by the part added. They might void your warranty on suspension components or axels but they would be very to try and void your engine or transmission warranty. This would be in violation of the magnusson moss warranty act.

The dealer wanted 2+ hours of labor for each spring (estimate was $900+), they expected to work on my car for a full day. I will not go back there.

TRD springs were slow to arrive in Canada but are available now for $1053CDN installed. Not sure what the parts go for but suspect they are in the $500-600 range which would make the labour ~$500 from the dealership.
I'd love to get a set but don't think I can spare the clearance for those rare drives in deep snow. |

Never had one single issue with the deep snow. Oh and the springs can be bought for $250 so the installed price is highway robbery (except you are now warrantied)
