Spare wheel/tire for big brake kit?

Any suggestions on this that will fit in the same spot in the trunk? I have the AP racing factory brake kit which fits the factory 17' wheels. The spare is not even close though.

Thanks.

I don't have one. If I do need to carry one, I bring 1x stock wheel + spacers since I have ARP studs.

You can also look for old 5-100 bolt pattern Subaru w/ large(r) calipers, those may have spares that will work.

Edit: 2004 WRX STi was the only STi w/ 5-100 bolt pattern.

You could always do the "musical wheels dance" in a pinch. Front flat. . jack up rear, put donut on rear, take rear and put it on the front.

Donut on the back isn't going to be good for much distance.

I'm happy the spare fits the Sprint kit, don't envy trying to find an option. Studs and a spacer may be the best all around option.

Why? The spare isn't rated for distance front or rear.

Donut on rear is specifically mentioned not to be used, as it puts excessive wear on your diff (even for a short distance).

Nope. . .that's why I said in a pinch. I put my donut on the rear for 1 mile to get home once. Didn't want to do it, but it was safer than trying to swap wheels around where I got the flat and pulled over. Trying to change a tire with 18 wheelers and cars passing by 2' away from you is not what I call fun.

Donut in the rear will really, really stress your differential.

Mike: isn't extended diff wear only when wheels are of different outer diameter? And shouldn't right sized donut with right sized tire fix that enough for reasonably short distances?

It's 0.2" diameter undersized. Is it a lot? No. But, it's enough to make your diff work hard. You'll also get some very, VERY odd cornering behavior with a (torsen) LSD in the rear.

Anyone who's upsized to a 225/45/17 or 255/40/17, or most 18" wheels will likely have VSA kicking in constantly, even in a straight line, if you're going more than a crawl.

But normal 17" donut used together with oem rims & stock primacies? Or even if with other type of rims/tyres but of stock 17x7 & 215/45/17 sizes? I never intended to go for wide rubber while on NA anyway .. donut is there just as more usable fix in a bind then stock tire fix kit to go 25-50km with easy on throttle at or below legal speeds till closest tire shop.
Well, if it is that bad even if with stock wheels for diff, then of course i can replace with front one. Just more time/work, hopefully not in bad weather conditions . I guess chosen 17" will be easier to fit on front then 16" even if some BBKs are installed ..

That fits with the sprint kit? are you sure? I just can't imagine how as you need to run a 10mm spacer to fit a stock wheel.

It's the offset and spoke clearance that makes you need a spacer, not the diameter of the barrel. If you look at the spare, it's a very different offset than the stock wheels.
