i'm 24 yr olds, not working, yet family have money so grandmother co signed for new car
I was working when I purchased my used 2011 VW gti 6 speed I traded in towards this
was my families idea because my gti was going up in miles around 70k and german cars lose value
my grandmother drives porsche panamera gts ... before porsche panamera 4s , before jaguar XFR , before jaguar XK and so on ...
I am a certified audio engineer, i've worked with countless recording studio's
I record/mix/edit, do videography and photography as well
I moved to fl to be closer to fam and escape baltimore city where I was living and felt something terrible was going to happen, less than 1 yr later 1 mile from where I lived an area where I was everyday "baltimore cvs" burned to ground, riots, freddie gray etc
I have established credit but not long enough history to have brand new car in my name etc, had to put 8k down even with my co signer etc, only got 12k for gti
my 45 cars were all sub 10k sports cars from late 80's to early 00's including 97 gst, 95 tsi, 90 300zx tt, 95 trans am, 89 camaro rs, 02 eclipse gt, 04 wrx stage 2, 10 genesis "20k blew up 375WHP" yep I've wasted a lot of money over the years
and StreetGlow if done right doesn't = rice, everything on my car was done tastefully to make it the ultimate daily driver to go along with the auto "slush box" etc
down to the wheel fitment, IMO this car is perfect
until I buy out of lease and decide to turbo charge.
I apologize in advance for my grandmother co signing for my car
I understand I need to have my own established credit
I understand I am very fortunate my grandmother has money and her husband just died over past weekend, very sad time for my family , emotionally and financially etc

Cool story bro. How old are you? Most of my friends parents only have autos and have only have autos since my friends were born so they never got a chance to learn to drive stick. I was the same way. Didn't learn to drive stick until I was 21 and got a new car after my first one was totalled.

if you care who drives a manual and who drives an auto, you're insecure about yourself and you have to justify yourself. just stfu about it if someone owns an auto. congrats, you press something down and move a lever and feel good. does it really effect you if someone else isn't doing that?

fyi i just bought a 2015 brz in a MT. @Tcoat @Ultramaroon

You don't want to teach them?

Whether or not a person chooses to drive automatic or manual is entirely preference. However, I strongly believe that every person should at least learn how to drive a standard. That way if you're ever in a situation where you don't have a choice, you're not SOL. That's basically the only reason I was forced to learn on a crappy 86 Cressida.

Not on a car that I'm paying for the maintenance to be done. Tried to teach an ex girlfriend and after she continually had the clutch fully depressed and kept increasing the throttle to get the car to move without lifting the clutch, I gave up.
