First Post: Long road to ruin (well not really)

I almost lost control of my twin the first month as well. Slippery oily roads, just started learning manaul, threw the clutch out to quick and the back snapped. Was a close call indeed. But on april 15th i wasn't so lucky I got t-boned by an asian lady in her 97 civic. You can't win them all.

I just thought I'd post my story. That's all. It was a time in which I felt I should post my first thread. I agree the traction control being off is the reason I spun out, however, I had no clue of the situation I'd face in my neighbourhood. Had I known I'd have to evade a reckless driver I wouldn't have disabled it. The wet weather did not negatively affect me with the traction off until I disrupted the cars balance by swerving. Sorry if my post offended you by being lengthy, I did warn y'all.

I spun mine within the first week. Just some tiny wet patches on an off-camber turn. Wide space - no vehicles - no harm. Totally agree with you. Anybody that says they haven't played with it is either FOS or, well, I dunno. I see some old ladies driving BRZs occasionally.

Thank you! I totally agree. It happens to everyone, at least once in their lives! I'm glad to hear everything was a-okay.

That's awful! Hopefully the cars on its way to recovery and you were all safe. It's true, sometimes life just gives a big FU and the stupidity of others results in our misfortune How long until the cars fully repaired?

I'm not offended, I just don't think there's any reason to ever turn traction control off outside of a race track.

I've been on a lot of spirited canyon carving drives here in the SF bay area, and I've never had my fun level limited by keeping the nannies on.

The I only reason I turn traction control off is because it's a new and exciting button for me to play with. I come from having a 115hp jetta city to a rwd frs. The only way to learn what it does is to use it in a controlled environment. I think that's all it gets down to is a learning curve that's all.

Controlled environment is not public roads. I'm not impressed by self proclaimed hoonigans sliding around the city with other traffic.

True. But with any rwd car and a young inexp driver it's going to happen till they get caught or cause an accident. Either way they will learn and hopefully never do it again.

Unfortunately because of those drivers, I get profiled and pulled over a lot more than I should. I've been pulled over more in this car since I bought it in December than I have in my 8 years of driving.

It's been in all iterations of the car unfortunately lol. The cop usually sees that I do in fact own the car, asks a few questions about it, then sends me on my way. Every now and then I'll get a breathalyzer though. Not a fan of that.
