What do you mean by drone? I don't have a lot of experience with exhausts, so I don't know what drone is.

If I am holding constant throttle and not trying to accelerate or decelerate, I can't hear the exhaust, however, the instant I accelerate or decelerate it gets louder, but I would not call it annoying.

P.S. we run a sound meter following the SCCA rules, which is 50 feet away to the side at a location where most cars will be WOT. I barely broke 83 dB.
This is almost the exact set up I am about to finish installing. The only thing different is I decided on a resonated and catted FP/OP combo. Glad to see 3" header back on JDL's UEL isn't as loud as resident experts said it would be. The next question will be did you choke at lower RPM or lose power due to lack of "back pressure"?

I am going to install the JDL UEL catless header and over pipe, hah.

I have not noticed a loss of power down low. The major change I have noticed is that the torque dip seems to not be as dramatic as before.

I will be getting dyno tuned this weekend to get as much additional power/torque as possible out of my setup.

Got back under the car today to see about that hose issue.

Here's how close they are:

DEI recommended a Fire Sleeve for the hose, but I couldn't find one in-town. So I used both a header wrap and an aluminumized sleeve. I slit the sleeve and wrapped it around the hose and wrapped just the area of the primary that is near it.

Here's from above. It's difficult to see, so hopefully it won't attract too much notice.

Btw, that's what happens to your engine after just one winter.

I was able to take it out for a drive up to temperature. It sounds MUCH better. But something is hitting when I engine brake over bumps, and I think there's another part touching the chassis. So I need to get back under it and try and track down where the odd vibration are coming from. Guess I have tomorrow's evening planned.

I tried skimming through this thread but couldn't find much information in regards to the CATTED UEL header vs the CATTED EL header in terms of performance. Has anyone compared the two?

Changed the filter without giving it time to drain. I might have accidentally loosened the sandwich a smidge also. But it's not leaking any more, so I'm going to check it at my next change.

Back under the car tonight to sort out the contact. The overpipe had plenty of clearance. But to be sure, I loosened both ends and made sure I had the maximum of space around it. Upon further inspection, I found that the #4 primary was pressed against a ridge on the metal skid plate. This was sending a lot of vibration through the car. I trimmed a relief hole in the plate to clear the pipe.

On a test drive, the car sounded much better than last time, with no contact with the chassis, even under engine braking. There are still some tones I'm not fully happy with, so next week I'm going to swap on an Invidia resonated front pipe I have and see how it sounds.

So 1(Lo) - 5(Hi):
Build Quality: 5 (Beautiful welds and great attention to detail)
Sound: 4 (Deep, throaty sound. Primary pairing isn't perfect.)
Fitment: 2.5 (Too close to lower rad hose and water pump pulley. Hits skid plate. B1S1 O2 clocked too far.)

Overall: 4 (Good choice. Just needs some tweaking.)

I'm too jaded! The hope that my order is in the batch shipping was quashed with a mental guffaw far too quickly. So that hope is cowering in a corner, but still there... Offsetting it is the thought it would then be likely to arrive while I'm out of town... So maybe...

Can't wait either way.

edit: just got a shipping notice! Wheeee
