Hood travel at high rates of speed.
Does anyone else notice their hood travels up and doesn't sit flush when moving at high rates of speed? I didn't really drive the car spirited before I installed my intake. I'm worried that with all the new room the engine bay has, that airflow is coming in from the front and pushing upwards.
If you do have this problem, were you able to fix it? I was wondering if struts might help hold it down. Last thing I need to worry about traveling 130+ MPH is my hood flying into the windshield when I'm on the track. |

This happens with the OEM intake too; I think the culprit was determined to be the seal at the leading edge of the hood was too soft. For me, crosswinds make it worse. Your hood isn't going to come off though.

That being said, I'd still like it to sit flush at high rates of speed. Guess it's time to do more research and figure out how to keep it from doing it. I guess I could always do what I did with my 1970 Chevelle. Just install hood pins. |

A little play in the hood latch is normal and nothing to worry about at legal speeds. |

Manufacturers are required to have the hoods to be double locked to prevent it from accidentally popping up. With how light the OEM hood is and the effect of high and low pressure zones will cause it to move.

I just noticed this too, about a month ago. There is a lot of play and travel but it has yet to break off. I hit 100+mph 3 or 4 times a week

I drive in high winds frequently and see it bouncing against the latches and that's at normal highway speeds.
