Yeah, they're right around 3200lbs. Way better power to weight ratio than we have, but I'll take the feel and lightness of the FRS/BRZ every day. I've driven friends 350's and 370's and haven't been blown away by them. They're not bad cars, just nothing really stuck out about them (other than the glorious exhaust note).

I didnt say it was perfect, it was just the most official track test of the two I could find which someone in this thread asked to see.

Yes a LSD makes a difference. It's hard finding good track comparisons between cars.

At least what I posted up was same track and same driver.
Those two variables right there are the biggest.

It is rather simple when comparing these on a track...

The 370Z is way faster than an 86. It is not even close.

Does that make it a better car? Well that is opinion.

I do feel the 86 is the direct reason the 370Z has come way down in price.

If someone wants to trade in their 86 for a 370Z or a Mustang or a Fiesta ST/GT...that is prerogative. No need to act like "they don't get it".

Heck every Miata driver out there could return that thought on 86 Drivers.

The reality is, we are all car people (guys...there are some gals on here as well) and we all represent a dying breed. We should stick together.

Also the more competition, the better. The 86 is not perfect, perhaps with the 370Z dropping in price Toyobaru may improve certain aspects of the car.

But it gets really old seeing an innocent thread like this and some people turn on the OP like its they are putting a child up for adoption.

Boss 302 was only produced '12-'13 and due to it's limited status is generally priced equivalently with a new Mustang GT with Performance package at around $35k give or take. I'd probably side with the newer car with independent rear suspension and gamble on the reliability of a first year model.

Considering the sport package to get a limited slip is ~$33.5k I think you're right that on paper the Mustang GT still holds the advantage in the $30k-$40k segment, if the Z dips truly into Toyobaru territory that's another matter but that's asking another $4k off the lowest price it's ever been..

5 seconds over a ~110 second lap is not insurmountable and the difference can be meaningless if comparing drivers of different skill levels which is likely the case for people purchasing these cars for DD/HPDE/AutoX duty.

I've passed my fair share of STI's and Porsche's and Chevy LSx powered cars around Laguna Seca, you're dead on, drive the car that inspires you and lets all go have a good time.

I drove a 370Z before choosing the BRZ and I wouldn't have bought the Z even if it was cheaper than the BRZ. Just too heavy feeling and too little feedback through the steering wheel. The SynchroRev is just naff. It sure sounded better than the BRZ, though.

370z is faster without question.

Is it better? IMO no, its on an old platform that is too heavy with an outdated V6.

In fact when the 370z came out it was not highly regarded.

That old heavy numb platform is in dire need of a overhaul.

The 370z prices were going to come down regardless of the 86.

Hopefully Nissan gets their shit together and the next generation lightened/shrunken Z is a hit. It would be really nice to see a modern 240z/Silvia spiritual successor... just a small, light FR (and preferably turbocharged) coupe.

Of course, I'd rather it LOOK like a modern reimagining of the S15... a sleek, modern S16... but I can settle for a sleek modern throwback to the original Z... before it became the Japanese mustang :P

That image describes a huge percentage of FR-S/BRZ owners as well... lol

V6 would be ideal for me. I don't like the box motor but I do love the look of the frs with wheels and rocket bunny kit.

you can do all that to a z as well. the z is more speed per dollar than a twin is. while it isnt important to many, it is to some and it should be considered.

Die hard Nissan guy but I walked right past the Z to the BRZ, literally, the dealers are next to each other. I regret nothing. The 370 does look better than the 350 did, almost pretty, but it's heavy and WTF are the turbos?

They killed the Silvia, turned the Skyline into an Altima+ and left me with nothing to excite. Sorry, Nissan, Subaru got my money. Look on the bright side, though, I still need parts for the GT-R. You remember, back when you built cars I wanted?

What's with all the popped collar hate? I guess you aren't ready for my parachute pants....

According to Nissan USA the price remains unchanged from last year's model:

Not going to happen. Car people are about as cliquey as a high school cheerleading squad lol. Besides what kind of reaction did you expect with a post like this? I'm sure if someone were to go on S2K or Z forums and post that it would be stupid not to trade their car in for another make or model they would receive the same treatment.
