I don't purchase a car part unless I know it would perform to my expectations. That's not to say I haven't purchased some that did not but whether it's a knock off or not is entirely irrelevant to me.

I'm a big fan of free markets and if someone can build a better mouse trap then great, if they can make the same mouse trap for half the cost then even better. You want to protect your design then patent patent patent.

Blaming the customer is stupid. The onus is on the business to come to market competitively. Not taking into account that competitors will copy, replicate and compete is myopic and that business probably isn't really good at well... business. It's not the customer's responsibility to support the business.

So yeah, I'll continue buying my $139, 11lb flow-formed wheels instead of the $800 "whatever-the-F" they copied because frankly I don't have the time to care nor is it my responsibility to do so. Nor is it anyone else's who's classified as a "consumer".
