STX are 1-2 2015 WRXs. Those guys on the Bridgestones are pulling 1.7x 60' times compared to 2.3+ for the BRZ/FR-S. Hard to make up being down .6+ after the first 60'.

Imagine after 200ft.

I have a unique-to-Canada question

due to a mix of sponsor obligation and general limitation on participant count, up in the north we're still allowed to use 140TW tires.

Last year i ran on R1Rs and won two sets via contingency, so I'm sitting on quite a bit of rubber...and will probably continue to run the R1R this year (still competitive enough to get another set, or maybe a 2nds place coupon towards toyo tires)

For those than ran the R1Rs in the past, how do you feel they measure up to the new Bridgestones?

I think the Rival-S worked pretty good. Will see which tires work better at Lincoln.

Just one month until Spring Nats

It should be interesting to see how the new tires do

I ran about the same time at Crows Landing test and tune on BFG and Bridgestone. Results probably vary depending on the surface you run on. A lot of results show Bridgestone being faster on asphalt.

Kevin Dietz (BFG) and Nick Bjoin (Bridgestone) were running similar raw times at the pro also.

I have, honestly my opinion is pretty worthless because it was my first autocross ever, but I do have the facts.

My car (3rd place out of 5) is fully prepped for C-street except for OEM dampers. Running on TRD Springs/Sways. 225/45 Rival S on 17x7 K4R's with some 9mm spacers I had machined.

Not sure of the prep on 2nd place Miata.

1st place FR-S was similarly prepped, but Koni's and 245/40 RE71R's on K4R's. Driver is very experienced, well versed in setup, and very smooth.

Again, hard to say much considering it was my first event, but the course was in an off camber lot and very hard on the driver's side front tire. I think the Rival S seemed to look slightly less ragged on the LF shoulder than the RE71R's I saw on other cars, but they were also going faster than I was. Pretty happy with my results for first time out.

I will post video when I get it uploaded.

May be a moot point. Rule is 6 sizes across 4 diameters. It's April 28th, and they're at 5 sizes across 3 diameters. They'll need to add either an 18 or a 14 by COB Thursday, barring SEB intervention.

Might be worth checking other retailers - Tire Rack is not the sole arbiter of the 4/30 deadline. But it doesn't look good.

You can still run the V720 at local events, but they won't be legal for national competition.
