Going with a 1jz

Recently blew the Fa20, just over 36k miles.. been debating on what to do with the car and came to conclusion I'll be doing a 1J with a R154 tranny, still haven't purchased the motor or anything for it just because I'd like to shop around and not jump into. more likely I'll be piecing it slowly. Gonna start this awesome project in the next week or two! The motor as it sits currently

From ops show off thread

"Current mods
-Fullblown motorsports base kit with GT2871
-3in Turbo back FBM single exhaust
-FBM Radiator
-PWJDM engine dress up kit"

Still curious on what you were pushing and what fuel you used the majority of the time

I had a 1jz twin turbo in a car that weighed about 600lbs more then the FRS and even with the 1jz being stock the car was a rocket... one day my FRS is getting swapped

it has been many years, but I heard something about the 1jz head having better flow or compression or something, and you could swap it onto a 2jz block and make a 1.5jz. There is no punch line to that, I just thought I would throw it out there.

1.5J is a waste of effort, 2J head has been proven to flow better stock for stock. The reason people do 1.5J's is to retain their existing 1J loom, plenum, big single manifold etc.
I've built a heap of cars with the full range of JZ motors, my favourite of the lot is a vvti 2J with big single setup.

looks like you shot a rocker out. its a problem with stock valve springs and high rpm/power. usually doesn't cause any valve/internal damage though
