well, this is certainly anti-climatic

I wonder if the rule wording will be addressed later on, and if it is, override what they wrote now?

What rule wording? The "Standard Part" definition has been in place for years, I doubt they'll change it. I'm failing to see why people think there is an issue with the definition of a "standard part"

because the reality is that it's not "standard" if we stick to the laymen understanding of "standard"

I certainly wasn't offered TRD components on my car back when i placed my order on February 2012, when not a single FRS has even left Japan's shores.

and the only reason it snuck in is because Toyota has procured paperwork that states it was port installed "all these years"... ie, someone had to actually write a letter to Toyota to get an answer to a question that would otherwise couldn't be answered.

Model Year goes well into calendar 2013. Besides, you are in Canada, so what you see from Scion-Canada doesn't necessarily translate to the rules that the SCCA bases its decisions on. The sky is not the same color over there...

This thread USED to have a good signal/noise ratio. Not anymore.

Stop whining and write a damn letter, or make a new thread just for your whining.

Well a BRZ did get 1st and 2nd at this weekends's National Tour.

In fact, all four National Tours have been won by "stock" FR-S's or BRZ's.

Maybe the RX-8's and FR-S's (with springs) are just "sandbagging"

I'm going to say it's ALL of that 7/8 tenths from the 40 second course I ran last Sunday running back to back. The watch actually showed 1.4 seconds, but I feel I left half a second out there on the Rivals. I actually hate these new Bridgestone tires, and feel they've fucked up street tire classes, but I'll save most of this rant for my build thread that I'll update this week with video of each tire being run on the same course. All in all, I'm very disappointed on how this car 'drives' on R Comps (yes, I'm calling the RE-71 an R comp). It's just not fun. I feel like I need to make miracles happen to come in with fast times on Rivals and it's an awesome feeling when you get it right. On Bridgestones I feel any swinging **** can put down a fast time.

Grrr... I did get a good baseline of what's fast this year from last weekend. We had 140 cars and 240+ cars at each event. The cars with Bridgestones, Rival S, and even Star Specs were quite a bit faster, though I actually pax'd about where I did most of the time last year. A few great drivers still did well enough to win on last year's crop though.

I'm with you on the feeling about getting it right, even on my RS3v2s. I'll give my RS3v2s at least one more event before I write them off because though our CS times this weekend were beaten by A-FS cars on Bridgestones, none of them had course cleaning duty in the slightly colder first heat (on partially sealed/partially crumbling lot).

So if TRD sways are allowed on the FR-S now does that mean you can put the rear TRD sway and an aftermarket front and still be legal for C-Street?

Yes, the TRD rear bar would count as a stock rear bar. So we essentially have 4 stock bars, and then one aftermarket for bar choice now.

Tire tech is always going to progress. If they were more expensive than other tires you'd probably hear screaming, but with the current rebate they are cheaper than almost anything else. Really it just comes down to people being on equal tires in the end, the better driver will always win out. Race tires can certainly make up for crappy driving, but only to an extent.
