If it makes the noise again, I'll be sure to mention it to be the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder.
In regards to the clutch master cylinder, it never made any sense to me that the noise only happens when shifting, and never happens when depressing the clutch at a stand-still. The throw-out bearing/clutch/trans makes sense, but there have been a number of people who have been the clutch route, and they have all had to replace the master cylinder to fix the noise. If yours was fixed with the clutch/throw-out bearing, I will be surprised. Please post up if the noise doesn't come back.

Anyone else here been ripping along, rowing through the gears and get that hon and almost crap your pants because it sounds like someone is honking at you RIGHT NOW AND RIGHT UP INSIDE YOUR SPACE?

I'll be cruising to work all chill during rush hour, see an opening and rip through the gears but then get that honking and think that someone is about to hit me...

Otherwise is there any damage being done? I'd rather not have to have the dealer do any diagnostic test drives if I can avoid it, let alone tear down my transmission.

Mine does it more often when it's cold, but since I garage the car it never really sits out and gets too cold... Well that and it's hasn't been super cold in the PacNW much this year. I first noticed in Dec of 2013.

I took it to the dealer 3 times and they could never reproduce it and neither can I. It just happens once or twice when I least expect it then not again for another couple weeks.

Maybe I should pay attention to my surroundings.. my car could be honking at other cars it likes.

I have the honk. I am sure it is coming from the clutch pedal.

I'm sorta leaning toward the master cylinder myself, and that's why I wonder if there is any harm being done if just left alone.

it seems to only occur during clutch transition, and when the engine is at a certain RPM/throttle. It kinda bugged me when I first started hearing it, but that was 2 years ago, and I pretty much just ignore it now.

Delayed for Master Technician Verification.
Took the car to Sparks Toyota this morning for their Master Technician ride along. We heard it immediately. He will call Toyota Monday for recommendations/instructions.
Oh the suspense!!!!!!

If you want to reproduce the sound then ride the clutch a little in 1st or 2nd at 3-4k...it will scream at you. Don't do it often though....you know what happens when you overheat the clutch.

So...the dealer had my car for two days. 3 mechanics could not isolate the noise. All heard it. The Toyota area tech specialist will look at it next. The dealer wants to be the first to find and document the root cause.
Glad they didn't just tear into it and start replacing parts.
.........to be continued.

This has already been diagnosed and solved by Toyota. It's the accumulator in the clutch master cylinder.

My noise has seemed to diminish greatly with temps now in the 70's and high humidity, go figure.
