Unless Subaru and Toyota start to do more platform sharing or component sharing, I don't see substantial changes coming until at least 2018. Look at how long the NC Miata was on the market. Look at how long the 370/350Z have gone between changes.
When they launched the 86, they said hp would likely increase to 220-230 hp over its life. Later on, they said they were investigating even higher hp due to customer interest.

Now it looks like they have just given up in favor of an all new car in '17 or '18.

Um, no. The JDM/EDM cars probably weigh more since they have power folding mirrors as an option.

Otherwise, the cars aren't going to be any real difference in weight (well, more than taking a good healthy #2) unless you got a stripped down JDM model (unpainted bumpers, no stereo, no A/C, crap wheels...)

If it's like this then those who wanted GBS won't be disappointed.

You know what really grinds my gear? The fact that toyota 86 worldwide all have luxury options and packages but Scion only sells the stripped out version

You want to pay more to get dual climate control? HID? Heated seats? We got the monogram series! It's only available in 2014 and its probably all sold out by now

Jesus why forced me to buy a brz?

I am trying to say that they are very focus in keeping the car of AE86 character which is light weight econo sports car. 200hp is adequate in their eye.
The 2015 models don't have near the torque dip of the previous ones.

I thought this was interesting...

In 2015, some really tiny enhancements were made such as programming logic of the power steering to accommodate a more dynamic driving scenario when in Sport mode VSC.
Does this change sound like something that can be flashed on older models?

I've already decided I want a '16. Kind of a tradition of having even model year cars.

I can't wait to have fun with a salesman. But who knows...I might get surprised.

For 2015's it was around Mid September, or at least that is what I saw when shopping.

That's what I've heard on here. Also my car didn't feel like the torque dip was as bad as some make it out to be but I've only driven a '15 so I don't personally have a comparison.

If the 16's were coming out soon, we'd have heard about it already.

Last year they started making the 15's on May 7th for delivery in June, but that news came out on March 24th.

http://www.ft86club.com/?p=3153

People here took delivery of their series blue in July:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ht=2015&page=6

Ordering for 2015's didn't start till the 3rd week of October here in New England:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...5&postcount=25

You could order a Aurora in Canada in April, and get it in June:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...13#post2152313

So what does this all mean? No one knows when the 2016's are coming out, but I'd guess later rather than sooner...
maybe fall??
