Up to you... The most fun I have with the car is taking turns and swerving (safely) around obstacles. The gears are fun too but I don't see having an AT as a deal breaker in terms of fun.

I bought my BRZ before I knew how to drive manual lol. It still freaks me out on steep hills, and parallel parking on hills is just terrible. I wouldn't want this for a daily driver, but I don't need a car to commute so this is just a fun weekend driver.

AT is like sex with a condom. You get the idea.

Get the manual NOW and trade it. I always tell the locals around me to get a manual and i had an acquaintance buy the auto and now he regrets it.

Lol

Well, I have an AT. I've been commuting about 85 miles per day for half a year (2.5 hours/day)... which would make anyone go crazy. Even with an AT I can't stand the drive, which is why I'm moving closer to work.

Then again, different strokes for different folks. On the weekends and when the roads are clear, I stick it in manual mode, but again it does not compare to a legitimate manual. Anyhoot, you can still get this car sideways, which is the whole purpose of this car anyway - the AT can do that and more.

Sometimes though, I do wish shortening the gear ratios would be financially feasible.

Modern autos are so much better than manuals.

There is a stigma surrounding autos because people assume that the slushboxes used in Camry/family cars are the same as used in sports cars. Also, people feel like they are 'cool' shifting their own gears. Like it's some kind of lifestyle they belong to. Combine that with endorphins released from successful hand-eye coordination, and you have this odd cult surrounding manual transmissions.

The manual tranny will be gone completely within 5 years, and was absolete 10 years ago.

hehe.

Yeah that's why I drive one - because I feel cool. The slush box used in the FR-S is no more advanced than the slush box used in the Camry or other family cars.

A well executed heel-toe downshift feels great. Being connected to the drive wheels feels great. Honestly, I don't mind automatics as long as they aren't slush boxes. Go fuck yourself.

Unless, ya know, you want to actually drive your driver's car.. instead of just going along for the ride

Automatic sports cars are for senior citizens and women

(sorry non-ahole automatic owners, he went there first )

To answer OP's question.. Nah.. but you clearly already made the decision so why bother asking?

People are saying that manuals are going to be done in about 5 years from now... idk about that, can you image a STI in automatic?

I don't drive a manual because it makes me feel cool. I drive a manual because it's fun as heck.
