first gear rattle
Recently got an frs with an ACT Race 6 Pad Sprung Clutch and lightweight flywheel. Sometimes when strating the engine seems to knock. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? It's only on the start and only happens every other time or so.

Race clutch? Sounds like part of owning the clutch. If it's made for performance, then it's going to be lacking in the sound department.

I fairly new to the tuning game, so I'm just making sure theres a big problem. Then car does shake pretty good at times too if that makes a difference.

When you say start, it's when you turn on the car or when you roll into first?

That's sounds standard for clutch rattle.
@CSG Mike, unless I'm wrong?

Shaking could be caused by the harsher clutch engagement or from aftermarket bushings and/or motor mounts. If I didn't know much about tuning and aftermarket parts I wouldn't have bought a modded car... But you have it, do you know the complete list of mods?

Sounds like your driving a 6 puck clutch add in a lightweight flywheel and solid trans bushings and itll sound like its tearing itself apart. 6 pucks also dont particularly like low rpms haha, have it checked out by a shop if you're worried.

Normal for a setup like yours. Retuning the startup can eliminate the issue if its a startup issue that is intermittent.

Welcome to the world of pucked clutches
They make noise. Because Racecar. Side Note: There will come a point where you're really comfortable with that clutch and you will be able to roll off without any chatter. |

Thanks guys. I think you're right. I found the sweet spot to be between 1500-2000 rpms and have been getting a lot smoother take offs. Chatter seems like a better word.
