Hope they don't do anything stupid! Your specific salesman sounds like he's got your back, so let's hope for the best.

Much appreciated. I may have come off as hair-triggerish, but folks have been waiting for this car - this type of car - for a long, long time. I guess your story hit a bit of a nerve with me. Good on your for being level about the scenario. Also, good on your salesman for having your back.

If your salesman cares enough to be your advocate in the dealership despite the chance to drum up business, may I propose throwing back a few colds ones with him and taking the tab. He seems like a solid fella.

Man oh man what a stress. With a deposit paid you expect better treatment. Looking forward to hearing back from your talk with the dealer

Not cool!

Glad my salesman was awesome. Car arrived on Thursday, but I couldn't pick it up until Sunday because I was on vacation. He parked it back in the corner and didn't let anyone sit in it including the managers at the dealer.

My salesman made it clear that there would be no test drives except for the person buying the car.

So met with my salesman and the general sales manager last night, aside from their silly appraisal of my trade the GM refused to negotiate the price until he had discussed with the other regional dealerships what the "market value" of the car is going to be. Call it what you want but dealers in the south jersey area are looking to price fix. If anyone in southern new jersey does have a BRZ on order please do not fall for their inevitable premiums.

This sounds sketchy as hell. Remind them that this is illegal please.

Classy. I have already stated my opinion on this thread. I would recommend people in South Jersey to buy cars out of state.

Too right. Have a big Chevy dealership near our office and on a few occasions I have seen cars come off the trailers in a less than sympathetic manner

I didn't tell my dealer anything. The only thing they told me was the car was coming in June. Imagine my complete shock when at noon on June 1st I get the call that my car is in! Just rolled off the truck. They did the PPI and parked it in front - for a second. The GM saw that and told the guys to put it in the back lot with a SOLD sign on the dash.

Car had 12 miles when I picked it up. I mentioned on the phone not to put the front plate on and they said they weren't on any BRZ. I got lucky - the GM is the guy I was dealing with. He had just got back from a training trip for the BRZ - so he got to rag one out on a race track. He was still excited about it and kept raving how great the car drove. . They treated my car with great respect.

Just as an FYI, remind the dealer to fill the car with premium gas. When I took delivery of mine they were going to fill it with regular until I told them to fill it with premium.

Sorry it took me so long to update this post started my new job and been having too much fun with the car but... the car arrived last Wednesday and I picked it up the following day. My saleswoman really took care of the car it had 5 miles on the odometer and she gave me the gas card to go fill it up myself. They also didn't apply the dealerships sticker or drill the bumper for the front plate at my request. Overall a good experience... although they had me worried for a bit there. Wish everyone the best of luck with taking delivery of their cars.

Knowing this, I made sure NO one touched my car when it arrived. Helped that Subaru here is under the same parent company that the dealership I work at. The moment it touched the ground I had the keys, controlled the PDI and made sure no drives happed. Sales even knew not to install the front plate or anything else.

Last thing I wanted was to take a car with 30+ miles on it knowing it likely had 4 when it arrived. Knowing I was getting the first car in alaska made that risk even greater.

Thankfully Subaru here is understanding/honest and made sure this didn't happen. They made sure before I came over to sign papers that it was locked up in the back. I even got to help with the PDI

You don't want to take a car many unknown people have driven/beaten up and seen if they can drift corners. All before break in.

Sounds like here, I'm the Service Manager and all the new car deliveries come through me, my keys (and Dave-ROR's) came straight to me from the truck driver.
