Yup, definitely a spun rod bearing. I don't feel like doing another rebuild, maybe I'll just v8 swap. We'll see
On a side note, it took me about 90 minutes to pull the motor. I suppose I've done it enough times now lol

you didnt waste any time pulling the motor! lol. I don't blame you though on wanting to do a swap now. It's just not worth the moeny to build the FA20.

Damn bro. I've been following this thread closely. Sorry about your luck. You could've already had a v8 swap of some kind with what you've done with your FA20. I can't imaging your pain right now. This must be frustrating. This also tells me all the more reason to dump the overly complex Subaru junk for something else.

I was going to do a v8 swap before too, I just didn't want to deal with the hassles of getting it all to function like a factory car. But now those hassles are beginning to seem worthwhile! I already have the swap kit, already have an LS, just need to decide if I'm going to swap to a t56 trans or make the OEM trans work (which may be what I do, replacements are cheap!).

It's all good man, it is what it is. The FA is a great motor and 100% worth building for someone who knows that they're dealing with. I would much rather have a 500HP FA than my 500HP LS in there, but at the end of the day it comes down to one thing: replacements. I can get a junkyard LS replacement for $500 and it will already make the power. That will just never happen with an FA. On a side note, the failure was probably my own fault. No pride here, just a kid that tried building his own motor and wasn't able to finish successfully. I said I would build the motor, never said it would run!

Once I have this figured out, the swap shouldn't be too difficult

4.8 would be a good option! Although with decent heads and cams a 5.3 could rev just as high and make 30-40 more hp than a similarly built 4.8. I may actually be installing a 5.3 myself, my friend may want my 6.0 for another project. The 5.3 iron block would be good for boost anyways, and this build will likely be FI very soon after its completion. It's going to be a few weeks or so until the car is running. It's getting picked up by the company designing the swap kit this Thursday, and it should be back late April. At that point I will just need to do the wiring (which really won't be too bad) and decide which heads/intake I will use as I have a few laying around.

Awesome car, sad about the motor but looking forward to seeing the engine swap. I would love to do an LS swap myself but I'm probably several years away from making that happen.

Just stumbled on this build thread today, and can't wait to see how this turns out! I was already jealous of your car so I wonder how I'll feel when there's a V8 in it! Hahaha
Kind of scares me that you started to loose compression at 10psi and 300whp. I'm also at 10psi on 91 oct with my Full Blown kit, but I am only making around 280ish whp on a Mustang Dyno (tuned by Evasive Motorsports)... Hope the same thing doesn't happen to me but if it does maybe I'll end up using this swap kit
