https://www.google.com/webhp?sourcei...2+-%2214r60%22 Nothing found for just "14R"........ It was just the "14R-60" and it was an extremely limited run and about $60K if converted directly from JPY yen to US dollars. I don't believe there are any other versions of the car...??? |

14R-60 "Limited Edition" http://gazooracing.com/detail/4552044 14R-60 Street Edition "Concept" http://gazooracing.com/detail/4556142 Actual 14R that made it to production: http://response.jp/article/2015/02/12/244162.html Its confusing to say the least, I can't even tell if that $60k car with the CF roof and such was ever actually made. |

Ooh, found one for sale:
http://autos.goo.ne.jp/used/detail/7...150130002.html Ok, so the $60,000 version was the limited production run of 100. The "Street" version won't be limited like that I believe. |

And here you go, the actual Toyota website in Japan that list two separate models... The 14r-60 and the 14r:
http://toyota.jp/86/customize/ And the .pdf with all the orderable options: http://toyota.jp/pages/contents/86/0...spec_price.pdf |

Unless they release some sort of hybridized ~2.2 (think FB25 piston bore w/ a FA20 stroke) that produces 220+hp and weighs the same I'm simply not interested in anything else they'll be offering.
I'd love to pick up a '15 for the suspension tweaks but It's nothing that won't be changed with bushings and coilovers. I'll have better brakes than the current Ts offerings. In other words the factory is highly unlikely to be offering anything that I won't have already done better to my car. EDIT: My current plans, in no particular order: Wilwood brakes, Ohlins Coil overs Poly or spherical bushings control arms JDL UEL and a full muffler-less exhaust with a single cat. Flat underbody Functional front splitter V3 DL diffuser if offered. Tune Supercharger (still uncertain on which one, needs to be track capable) Brake cooling ducts Ported/polished heads and beefed up valvetrain and oiling to support 9000 RPM 17x9 with 235/45's stepping up to 245/40's or 255/40's as power levels increase. Eventually I'd like to biuld a bastardized FA motor out of an FB25 block. Atleast 275 WHP, not particularly looking for more than 350 WHP. In a endurance race capable package/car. |

i agree with SuperDave. it seems like your heart is into the tS. car buying is emotional, not rational. i'd buy the tS

An interesting point came up in regards to something else that lead me to a different thought on this subject...
I had planned on focusing on doing Track days next year. I'm focusing primarily on Autocross this year, which is relatively inexpensive... But track days would require a lot more money. So the thought is, if I did start saving for the tS and did manage to purchase it, I would have far less funds available to actually "do" things with the car. Also, I would be more inclined to "baby" a new car (like I did with this one for awhile, but magnified 10x due to the nature of a special edition car). My decision might come down to more along the lines of: Do I want a car I can USE or a car I just want to OWN? |

Your decision is already made. You will get the ts if it comes out. The question is whether it will be out this year or not. The way you seem to be craving it you will very likely do some other financial game to sell your car and get the new one, even if you continue to upgrade the 2013.
If you hold on upgrading but what you expect is not released, you will then debate on waiting for the 2016 as that should really be the ts/sti. If anything, just start with the mods that are easier to take back to stock and sell separately until the next models are announced. |

Depends on a lot of things.
I tend to buy a car that has what I want right off the showroom floor and make as few mods as possible. The thing is, cars that I want to own do not come along very often. Miata-S2000-FRS. I start saving for the next one as soon as I buy a new car, I am seldom interested in the slightly evolved version of what I have; I want something that is a quantum step forward when I buy a car. So no STI version of the twins would trigger a buy its just the same car with a bit of lipstick. So far, the appearance of a groundbreaking car seems to happen every ten years, and has worked for me and my savings rate. If you like to modify cars, then that is the value proposition for you and I say go for it. |
