Aww c'mon man! Half an ounce here, half an ounce there... It won't affect the car's polar moment of inertia unless you move the cupholders closer to the shifter

Who wants to make these for not $179+shipping? That's plain stoopid!
Maybe they'll double as these:

Prices are outrageous, but at least stuff are becoming available.

I kind of doubt both of these... this isn't like the WRX where the tranny is a couple feet ahead of the shifter. I suspect the stick has a very short or possibly even non-existent linkage. From what I've seen so far, the shifter movement is already extremely short, and I suspect it won't need any special bushings. My Elan's shifter goes straight into the gearbox without any linkage, and it is wonderfully short and mechanical-feeling. If the BRZ is anything like that, I will be ecstatic.

...I just did a little looking, and there's some photos of the transmission on this page that show some linkage coming out near the rear of the transmission; I assume that's the linkage we're talking about. Not much there to do anything with.

As the 86 is RWD, its transmission hat/turret is directly under the center console, and as such has no linkage or cables/arms/what have you. The shifter rod and bushings go directly into the shifter turret on the back of the transmission unit, and may even be lubricated by the oil in the casing of the transmission.

That being said, even though this is an AZ1 transmission like the s2000, it still seems like it has a longer throw, in my opinion it needs a shorter throw and a shorter overall height, but certainly nothing drastic as its quite a bit better than most cars out these days.

We'll just have to wait and see now wont we

I have all the shifter parts lying on my workbench. We WILL have something... I just need the shop BRZ to hit to test out the prototypes.

Then to see how long it take GTP to make shitty knockoffs.

I'm not saying it's not crazy expensive, and probably foolish to buy at that price, but the devil is in the details - some random large exhaust tip from Pep Boys isn't going to look the same, and it's going to be pretty obvious to anyone who knows (especially me, who would have to look at them every day). The whole point is to change the tips to what they should be, not to "something close".

I guess it all depends on what your motivation is. To mod with an emphasis on power/function, or to mod with an emphasis on OEM look first, power/function second. I'm typically the latter. For example, if STi comes out with an exhaust I'd probably be in.
