I like this idea!

Added a tentative schedule that I think will be the most fun for everyone who expressed interest. Those who want to stay local can buy a car and just do the Rallycross, those that want to do the road trip can do both. Obviosly, you can't "win" if you don't do the road trip portion. Spoke with someone about the possibility of brining a rental car, all I can say is I hope you have really really good insurance

Anyway tentative schedule is as follows
-Buy cars by early June in order to get titleing all sorted out
-Compete in Chehalisfest rallycross on July 25th
-Repair car over following 2 weeks (depending on the course rallycross can be brutal)
-Leave Friday August 7th heading south to Medford
-Compete in ACCO autocross
-Then head to Vegas
-Return on the 16th

And I've been watching the market, looks like $600 is going to be a pretty good range for us. I see one or two awesome cars per week listed (I almost bought a Taurus SHO this past weekend) and a 3-4 each day that would probably make it.

Bump!

Since Darrin's BBQ is now nearly outside the car purchase window, anyone want to meet up and discuss over a few beers? Perhaps this weekend or next? What works for everyone?

I think I'm out... I will be in South Carolina mid May through end of June, and I don't think I'll be buying a car in the next two weeks :/

I'm not going to be able to swing it so I'm unfortunately out as well. As soon as I pay off my debt then I'll be free.

I want to do this badly, but I am already taking a ton of time off work. I may (low chance) do the rally in July, but if this succeeds and is an idea for next year, I will be 100% in. This summer is just a little tight on time after starting a new job.
