I go drop a gear and attempt a pass on someone who decides to accelerate to keep me from passing the FR-S just does not have enough go to compete.

Happened to me when this bitch in an Accord was doing 50 in a 55 so I drop to 4 to overtake and when she noticed she hit it. My sad little car just could not overtake her and as I crossed 65mph I backed off realizing it wasn't worth it.
You dropped it right into the torque dip. 55 mph is a 3rd gear pass.

I guess it's a matter of opinion whether it's the fault of the driver for hitting the torque dip, or the fault of the car for having one. : )

Lol.. I read that and thought "sounds just like idiot drivers here".. Looked at your location, yup, Texas.

You in San Antonio by chance? Worst drivers in America I swear. I have never seen so many people coming to a complete stop for no reason. Yield signs might as well be stop signs, same thing when two lanes merge together, or they are making a U turn with a dedicated merge lane..

I'm in DFW but I feel and share your pain.
It's so bad I think some type of IQ test should be given in order to get a license.
People will literally come to nearly a complete stop in a 55mph area to make a turn even though they have a protected green light.

Not throwing stones. I've been riding peaky straight-4 bikes forever. Even then, it took me a while to adapt to this little machine. I've quite enjoyed learning it.

Just remember those fragile little synchros. You can sequentially downshift and engage the clutch with each gear until you get comfortable with steady-state driving in the powerband. Get to know the correct gear for the speed at which you want to initiate a good pull. Be careful not to overdo it.

Once you're confident you can double-clutch from 6th to 3rd smoothly without abusing the synchro, you'll pass like a boss. It's fun!

Back on topic about the tS: Who is going to be able to daily drive this thing with that huge wing? And will Subaru tune the suspension too rough for the streets of San Francisco?

Or you could just do what I did and drop a couple grand for an extra 30+whp and better tune

What purpose does it serve to double clutch? Why not just shift directly to third, hit the gas to rev match, and let out the clutch?

I wouldn't want that wing on my car regardless, but that's just a matter of preference. Stock or 5 axis look better to me. Not sure how anyone can answer the 2nd question without driving it.

People with STIs DD with huge wings just fine.

It's really hard on the 3rd gear synchro to ask it to do all the work of spooling up the input side. Just begging for early failure.

Some (most) people do a clutch-disengaged sequential 5-4-3 shift to spool up in steps. I prefer double clutching to spool up and then letting it sink into 3rd. Zero effort and super smooth.

Anyone know how long it takes for the 2016 MY to arrive in the lot after Subaru announces the 2016 MY?

I'm hoping the 2016's come out in July.
