Additionally, the LS3, which has about 430hp (close to this kit's output), has a 90 mm throttle body. The 997 has around 400hp and a 82mm throttle body as well. The Ford coyote motor had a little over 400hp and also a 80mm throttle body. And seeing these air pumps are "pulling" air through their respective orifices, an argument can be made this kit really needs a throttle body at least 80mm to achieve optimal output. I'm sure more google searches for performance NA motors with similar power output would show similar throttle body sizes. So there it is: TRD, GM, Porsche, and Ford thought it was a good idea for motors with outputs around 400hp to have TBs at least 80mm. Last edited by tirespin782; 04-03-2015 at 08:39 PM. |

This one is 85 mm and compact and from what I can find has an 8 pinout but still might be able to be adapted but someone with more knowledge than me might chime in .

But a 3" plug and play option exists, we have the adapter flanges done and will be test fitting in the next week or two. Otherwise our brutal PA winter is pretty much over, we put the 80mm pulley back on the nose, and the 255/35/18 RE71Rs are on the car. Before that I test drove with my newest tech in the car, we left about a 1/8 mile skid mark trying to kill the snow tires in 3rd gear. They just won't die. In addition to the coils/tires we threw on @Raceseng camber plates up front, SPC rear arms. This allowed us to bring the front camber to a nice 2.8, rear to 1.9. I'd go less in the rear but we're rubbing the rear fenders pretty good as it is. 1.9 is still way better than 2.6 without the SPC arms. Forgive the FB link but this is how it sits: ![]() Impressions with the new rubber and coils? Axle fund is started...this thing gets up and goes in 3rd gear. In 2nd gear it will catch traction only with our custom traction control. But it is absolutely brutal. We're tire limited though. A widebody would be necessary to get this thing to hook up in 2nd gear. But honestly at that point I'm fairly certain we'd just be eventually spitting teeth off the splines given the torque. Hopefully we'll have it 100% up and running for the open house. In between the festivities we'll do some ridealongs for those willing to sign the whiplash waiver.... |

I am aware that the inlet manifold into the SC might/would be to small but I'm prepared to mod that to suit the bigger TB .
Mike would the 75mm TB you have in mind be suitable for a rebore to a bigger size maybe 78 or 80mm ? |

Hey guys just joined, over from the 8th gen Civic forums and I've got a good buddy who is pioneering the big s/c game with a 2.3l whipple + built k20.. up from a 1.6l whipple that blew up his stock motor
![]() From what he's learned so far, the TB is a very restrictive part of the equation -- one guy just got a Tundra 90mm tb to work on his mp62 setup and it gained +2psi over a 72mm tb.. I'd assume its the same thing on the FRS/BRZ -- not sure what size tb you all are running on the 335 now, but I'd recommend the biggest one you can get! And keep the intake as large as possible to feed that tb, seems to have really helped on my buddy's whipple setup. His header also picked up large gains over a previous design -- not sure how different the header designs are on the FRS/BRZ, but its something worth noting. 3" exhaust as well http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/car-b...-than-k20.html I'd love to see a really well setup roots style blower for these cars, I think it'd be a nice alternative to a turbo kit for those wanting to auto-x, as long as the aftercooler core is efficient enough to keep temps reasonable
