Long commutes aren't for everyone, but I actually appreciate being a fair distance from my workplace. I commute 2 hours per day (1 hour each way).
I bought the RS1 model. Its a bit stiffer than the standard FR-S due to factory lowering kit they put on it. so take what I say with a grain of salt. I find it a pleasure to drive on most days. There are some though that I just wish I wasn't bouncing in the seat so much over some of the poorer sections of the highway. You will feel every depression in the pavement, every seam, every section the pavement has lifted or settled a little. Can be fun on a lot of days, can be aggravating or exhausting on a few though. Oh and I am 6'4" and 225 lbs. No problem with space for the legs or head. Surprising room in the thing! I would still buy it again though . I love the thing!

I drive 10 hours once or twice a month to go see my girlfriend and 10 hours back. I don't find it hard to manage. I find it comfortable. Most people think I'm crazy because I find my cbr 600rr comfortable on that same drive... So up to you if you listen to what i say.

haha thats near my weight and height, and sometimes i take the long way home from work. 15 mins => 40 mins lol But i've done long commutes in the car before, no sores or pains. Just a tired leg from 3mpg tail to tail traffic for about an hour at most on to normal 1-2 hour driving.

Depends bro. I commute 1 hour a day from Los Angeles to riverside when I first got the car I did notice as I have a big upper body the sides of the bucket seats kinda felt too tight and was a bit uncomfy. I'm 6'1 180 lbs. After a couple weeks of owning the seats stretched an no aches anymore!

I commute roughly 3 hours a day (1.5 each way) and the car is perfectly comfortable for extended periods of time, but like with any standard transmission in heavy traffic it's annoying - especially with the clutch engaging at the top of the throw with the 86.

Get a Corolla/Prius if you commute that much or a Civic/electric car. Something that will give you constant 40+ mpg. Plus, ride is semi comfy.
FR-S gives me 42-44mpg on straight roads @ 60mph, no stops, but considering doing that commute for me everyday...I dont personally recommend it. The FR-S is capable, but my spine takes a beating. Max commute i'd be able to do is 2hrs round-trip. 4 is just /wrists for me. Maybe i'd last a week or two but for longer I'd have to be a contortionist. Then again, i'm sure there's members here who could sleep, eat, work and simulate a truck driver lifestyle in their little 86 and still have zero complaints. p.s. i'm sure if I did a 10+ hrs drive every now and then i'd be fine in my 86, but not often.

This car is a decent long hours commuter if you can get over the anxiety of not being able to ever see anything on the highway (SUVS). Good use a better sound system for the long trips as well.

Very tempting, never really wanted to lower my car much unless it was on the sti springs (.5 inch drop). I'd prob get the b6's. I guess it all depends on what the dealer ends up doing with my car.

32-40 mpg where do you guys get these numbers. I commute 30 miles one way every day and I'm at 25 mpg...but I guess shifting at 5k rpm and downshifting to 4th at 70 mph to pass doesn't help my case?
