Anyone commute 4 hrs/day?

Hi guys, I'm a prospective 86er. But I have one main concern: I may have to begin commuting 4 hrs/day. How's the comfort of driving the 86 for those of you who drive long distance every day? I used to own a 93 Prelude in college, and my back would hurt from 1 hour commutes, so this is a serious concern. Looking to hear back from yall.

Thanks.

I used to do a 3 hour commute, it's pretty comfy. Left foot got tired alot though with massive traffic, but that's any manual.

The stock seats are very good for long trips in my opinion. I once drove an 8 hour round trip and I didn't get any aches or discomfort.

Though my best advice would be to buy a house closer to work

4 hours a day? thats a long time...

My work is 55 miles from where I live, and if I take the car I'm looking at about 3.5-4 hours...on my bike though, its only about 2.5 hours total

Are you long distance or just lots of traffic? Or in socal, both haha.

But I've done some longer trips in the car, and never had any back issues...but I know that seats/positions/comfort are different for everyone

If you are using it as a commuter, I do not suggest getting the TRD springs. The car is pretty stiff in its OEM state, the TRD springs stiffen it to the point where the car feels pretty bouncy on freeways, ESPECIALLY in So.Cal. I can say that the roads here in San Diego are so disgustingly horrible, I cringe every 10 seconds or so as I roll over a large chunk of concrete or pothole in the road that is just completely unavoidable. If you are in the OC, the roads are definitely much more maintained, namely the Anaheim/Orange areas.

It's a great car in the So.Cal. areas though, as you can drive it year round, there are some great mountain roads in reach for some weekend fun, and a great autocross community. I rarely drive with my windows up during the day down here.

I have at least a 2 hour commute everyday and the seats and very comfy. The angle of the head rest points forward so sometimes it annoys my neck.

My left shoulder blade gets sore after about 2 hours, but thats more because I keep my left hand at around 10:00. Besides that, its really comfortable.

I just wouldn't want those miles on my beauty....buy a beater.

But thats just me.

The twins are fine for a few hours a day, but it depends on your body type. Tight squeeze for me (5'10, 225lbs, 32-33" waist), but still comfy.

I have a 3-4 hour commute that's 15-17 miles each way in heavy traffic. Comfort will really depend on your body type and the BRZ works for me. At 5'6 160lbs and a 32 waist, the only things I would improve upon would be to have a longer seat bottom and more lumbar support, which would make it even more comfortable for me.

I am tall and skinny 6ft 145lbs and my only seat complaint is the butt bolsters. My bony hip seems to try and jet into the bolster and cause a bit of pain after driving for a few hours. I am not really looking forward to my 11 hour drive to edmonton this summer.. I migh have to use a butt pillow lol. Also the door armrest sucks. I have worn a permanent flatspot in mine. Also the lack of center armrest kind of sucks. I am just to cheap to buy an aftermarket one lol overall I would say long distant comfort is mediocre at best. Dont get me wrong I love the seats. But some of the things they do can be uncomfortable.

Depends 100% on your body imo. I have driven my car twelve hours before with less issues than when I get a random rental but I'm 5'4" and a girl so it's super comfy.

I spent 1.5 years in this car during a 3-4 hr commute and it was fine. Im 5'10", 215lbs so im fairly large too

I have a 2-3 hour commute per day and I love it, been doing it for almost 2 years now and have not had any issues with discomfort

I do outside sales and literally work out of my car Wednesday through Friday. Besides the fact that it is small and can be a pain with all my work stuff I love dimly driving this car. Got in mine at 9:30 this morning and just got back from doing an entire day of cold calls and meetings...only complaint is that when I'm just not in the mood it wold be nicer to have more passing power, but that's a separate issue.
