I'm sure this has been lost on some page on some other post of this but... [like directly above me]

Subaru officially quotes power at 345bhp and 332lb ft of torque, but Subaru's Dominik Infante told TG.com the concept car actually produces closer to 450bhp. "They quote it lower on the stand, but that's just an agreement between the Japanese manufacturers," he smiles. "In the race series they downgrade their power, but in reality - in this concept car - that engine makes 450."

Source

Also, there's this:
"This is not a production car, and we do not intend to bring it to market,"

Concept Car -> Drool -> Back to Reality -> Driving home in my FR-S tonight is going to be a blast anyway.

Those specs belong on a 50K or more car. Anyone who thought this would be the next off-the-lot BRZ needs to cut back on the gold paint.

The moment the article said they're going to put a race engine in it, people should have said:

Yes.... it is April 1st.

Just got an email from a highly-placed friend at Aston Martin. Seems someone at Subaru has been asking about V12 engines. He was all "WTF" until he looked at the specs and said the current AM V12 would fit, as it's not much longer than the LFA engine slated for the 16 FR-S. The rear seats would go for sure, but it would fit. He even said "off the record" that someone at Subaru was looking at the Vulcan engine in particular.

Suckers uglified. That's why some variant or at least some styling queues will definitely be showing up on the refresh. They ALWAYS pollute the original releases with bling. If anyone doubts it just look at the long list of examples such as the 240Z, 67 Camaro, 65 Mustang or the 89 Miata.

Or just look at the 2016 Scion iM concept. I've been wanting a hatchback for a while and the concept looks amazing. The actual production model they revealed yesterday looks like ass. Disappointed.

Plus Juan. The 240 was simply beautiful. The new 240 design studies floating around the WWW and for sure the one Jay Leno saw on his video visit to Nissan HQ suck ass. How hard can it be to take a classic forward 60 years and not fuck it up? I'd buy, right now, (200 HP even) a modern 240 that had not been dragged through the LED and square-edge-lip-wing-dumbass aero shop. The very same idiots are hard at work on the FR-S/BRZ "refresh".

I'd guess more like $80k+. I mean, it's the exact same engine they're using for the GT300 race car, a beefier transmission to handle the extra torque, 18 inch wheels, a widebody with functional aero, a carbon roof, a functional GT wing, probably coilovers + full aftermarket suspension arms + a locking clutch-type LSD, etc.... I mean, it's not a full on SuperGT car, but it's about as close as one anything somewhat still resembling a street car could possibly be. It's literally a factory time attack car + some pretty lights. Not anywhere near cheap in the aftermarket and even less cheap coming from an OEM tuning branch...

For $80K+, I would really want to see a mid-engine twin turbo flat six or flat eight sportscar that could compete favorably with a Z06 or higher.

Somebody posted that Subaru (or affiliate) could build a rally car with a 0 to 60 in two seconds time and was pissed that Subaru was not offering that to the peons as the BRZ STD for 30K.

God, I love you FRS guys. Seriously though, this is entertaining, from a BRZ/Subaru enthusiast.
