It's simultaneously running Photoshop, Lightroom & their Plugins + transfering giant file sizes that slows my computer down.

I'm running a 2011 Intel i5 Vaio laptop that's still going strong for school work, but I guess my needs have changed since then.

You do a bunch of photography though don't you? The files you must work with would probably be massive.

Add illustrator, kmp player or media player classic with music, 2 browsers and 20 tabs of porn and were about the same :P

I cheaped out and just bought my current rig. I didn't feel like building another setup. I hadn't followed pc components and the change and ammount of product was a bit overwhelming. HP Pheonix 810st. i7 4960x maxed out. The only thing I've swapped since was the graphics card and a few bigger 2tb hdd's. I went watercooled... no issues but the main reason I chose water was I was hoping it would be quiter. It seems about the same, fans still noisy.

HAHAHA I'm just weird like that guys. I think a lot... constantly. I love physics, philosophy, economics, international relations and arguments about morality. I was the geek/nerd in my days.




Smoking nothing, doing nothing. A lot of my thinking comes from being happy. Or... maybe depression? Never know. LoL.

FR-S makes me happy?

Today, I don't have any random thoughts besides thinking:

CPU: i7 4770k @ 5.8GHz 53 C idle, high 95C (Gonna drop it back to 4ghz) (updated from 3.8ghz i5 4670k)
Mobo: Z87 Extreme6/ac??? Been a year. I want the z97 saber-tooth one though?!
RAM: 8gb, dropped from 16gb
OS: W7 Home
Cooler: H100I <3 water coolers! So quiet too!

That's an impressive build!
So far for my build I have:
Mobo: Gigabyte X99
CPU: i7-5820k processor
RAID: 3x Neutron 240GB SSDs
Ram: 2x 8GB G.Skill DDR4
GPU: 2x EVGA GTX 970's running in SLI (These bad boys are what it's all about)

Having done external builds before I can tell you they sometimes get hotter than case builds. A case build lets you run positive and negative airflow to maximize cooling along a closed path, whereas external air won't wick heat fast enough without fans on each hot component.

Definitely easier than modding a car. Everything nowadays is mostly plug-n-play. Right now, all things considered I'm sitting on around 2k for my build. But you can build a custom for even $1000 or less that will eat Adobe CS6 for breakfast.

Oh, I get what you're saying but surface area is also your friend (duh). Just think, no fans and using SSDs, total silence.

I used to have a ProTools DAW but no proper isolation booth. Damn fans.
