Metallic click / tick when idle?

I recently noticed a metallic clicking noise (one that sounds awfully similar to the heat shield cooling down) while idling. It's pretty hard to hear from inside the car but it's pretty apparent from the outside. Not sure if I'm just being overly paranoid but was wondering if this noise is normal (you can hear it around the 14 second mark):

Well, as the heat shield "tinkles" when cooling down ..... it may "tick" heating up ....

The noise is actually more prevalent after letting the engine warm up and driving for a bit (the "tickings" seems to occur closer together)

I gave up on trying to figure out all the noises my car makes.. ticking, chirping, clunking, rattling.. I just turn up the music.

I have the same noise, I always notice it in enclosed drive-thrus that reflect the noise back into the car through the window. It almost mimicks the noise the car makes after you park it and turn it off.. a crackling popping ticking like noise. I can't notice it in normal driving circumstances, and it sounds "Timed", on a pattern, so that makes me think it's a normal operating sound.

Does yours occur more often after the car is warmed up? I can only notice it when I'm outside the car or if I have the windows open, music off and I'm parked. I did mention it to the dealer when I went for an oil change the other day but they want me to bring it back on a day it isn't raining because they thought it might just be "rain dripping on the exhaust"... yeah right

sounds normal, just like my car.. I don't hear it when i'm sitting inside driving my car, and it's never caused any driveability issues with me, so that's all that matters.

sorry for bump, but...what is that damn click?

Was at Chevron today, heard click, looked under and saw green puddle.... uh oh, I drove somewhere else, turned out the green puddle wasn't from my baby, but did notice the click. Was a/c but then I turned it off. Sounds like a plastic hitting something then pulling back after tension is too great????????
