I will admit that it appears they may be legal now, but continuing to allow them (in CS) in my opinion is not best for the sport
We'll see how it shakes out at the end of the year. Most people don't think these parts automatically transform the car into a class winner. The real issues with the car in CS are the gearing and the torque dip which this doesn't fix.

There is no current rule to say "cars with this line-item accessory installed are in BS." They would have to move all FR-S models to BS unless a new rule is proposed like one saying "options from a manufacturer's performance division are not legal."

The SAC/SEB hates these "trunk kit" options so I would not be surprised to see something come out of this, unless the springs/swaybars end up making no real difference and the RX-8/MX-5 still beat down the twins.

Yes, Subaru of New England operates the same way.

In the SE Scion builder you can build the car with a Borla exhaust.

SE Toyota has been subcontracted out by Toyota to handle their own localization/distribution/marketing. For the most part, Toyota Motor Sales controls everywhere else and is an actual subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation (Japan). For the majority of us here in the US, what we get offered to us are Toyota products of from TMS.

Southeast Toyota and Gulf States are private distributors.

Select regions have their own control, thus you find Lone Star State badges on trucks in Texas and sometimes different floor mats in Canada (both examples of PPOs done at their local ports). Those select regions have a choice to accept what they want from the TMS approved factory port options, or can decide to make their own.

In the case of the TRD performance options we are talking about, it is very possible that those regions just didn't have interest in the accessories TMS was offering. Thus you may find them missing.

Regardless, all things from TMS are considered to be the official voice of Toyota. The same cannot be said for publications from SE Toyota.

Make sense?

The tires are currently on my car outside. Tonight it is supposed to get down to 23. I am more worried about possibly damaging the tires because of the cold temps than getting a fast time. Will they hold up in cold temps?

They won't be damaged, they just won't have any grip. Depending on the surfaces your event will have, cold can be slicker than rain (asphalt is almost like ice, concrete is like damp asphalt in moderate temps).

The Tire Rack article says not to drive them below 40F and not store them below 20F. Be very careful.

I'm watching right now and Sean and Manfred are in 2nd/3rd behind Adrian Cardenas. So it may not be the class overdog with those springs that people are predicting.

kewl.

what is the asterix next to some of the car names for?

EDIT: did some excel shit... if I'm reading these right looks like:

...Sean's getting old

....Wouldn't want to do a Mexican standoff against Manfred

....the RX8 is quicker than the FRS off the line..... technique or tires?

Checking in real quick.

I have 225 rivals and they're on the wear bars, so it's tough. Oem shocks are a little short on damping. Going to fight hard today.

I'll post full thoughts probably tomorrow, we're running late today.

Wow, that Mazda was fast! It would have won a trophy in BS. Great effort on your part! Did the springs get challenged?

Thank you

Neither of us were protested. I did inform the third place guy about the TRD parts early in the weekend, he did not press for more info when I told him the docs showed they were port options and legal. This was a mostly casual CS crowd I felt so maybe they just didn't care.

I was on the limiter in a few spots so fresh tires would've probably meant a decision on short shifting to third somewhere. I'm not sure I could beat that 8 on *this* course.

Full review tomorrow but short review: go buy these parts.

can you also add if you've installed the "full" kit, ie, with the trd bumpstops to go with it.

You wouldn't be legal otherwise.

Got the parts on my car yesterday. It's a nice kit that comes with like 140 replacement nuts and bolts as well... because Toyota techs can't take stuff apart without breaking it??

My Hotchkis bar also showed up cross border from FT86speedfactory in only 48hrs!
