There has never been and never will be a show that made me want to buy a Reliant Robin as much as Top Gear.

As much as I love the show, I think someone who berades a co worker for 20 minutes then physically attack him over a steak dinner deserves to be fired. I applaud BBC chief Tony Halls decision to fire Jeremy even that means killing one of their most successful and my personal favorite shows.

Nah, internet means it will live on for a very long time. There are large active fangroups for shows that never hit nearly as many viewers as Top Gear.

Anytime a conversation begins about recommended television shows when someone has lost interest in what's on TV nowadays Top Gear will make the list.

and so the saga continues; maybe it's just me, but if Russia 'stole' Clarkson, Hammond and May and made a car show, I feel like the show would be 1000000x better....Russia does everything better, and without limitations or anything

I'm not even sure how to respond to this...other than if that did happen, you'd suddenly see Clarkson talking about how great the Lauda is, and that anything western is Rubbish. And that even if he did say anything negative about it, you'd never see him again.

For sure SOMEONE will pick up Clarkson, May and Hammond for a new show. They're way too popular to just fade off into memory. Someone will try to cash in.

I wonder, since these are technically "franchises" of the original, if they can even pick any of the three up. I'm sure there is some type of non-compete language in the agreements to use the name.

Maybe they just need to reboot it as "Top Gear - Total Nobs" or "Top Gear - MMA Edition"

You're probably right, which is sad, because I would have loved to see a TG:US/TG:OG mashup show like they did with Australia and Germany.
