Well, braking as little as humanly possible is one of the major tenets of hypermiling. Another is accelerating briskly to cruising speed (somewhere around 80% throttle)

42.8 MPG @ 62-63 mph w/ cruise control, 6th gear, and straight road. (this is for 28-40 miles)

Friend getting 38-44mpg @ 61-63 mph, auto, cruise control enabled for his Prius.

I always thought Prius would get 50+ easily???

If you can get it under 250 lbs with the driver in it.

I suspect that the key factor is "young guy". I have no issue with police (I'm 59) and I speed all the time in my FR-S. Six months so far, no ticket. I'm apparently too boring to pull over.

You get them pull up behind you, reach down to the computer and then just pass you 3 minutes later?
I have seen that happen so many times now it is what I have come to expect.

Checking your tag number to see if you have a bunch of speeding tickets, probably. If they see none, they move on to more promising victims.

Does that qualify as texting while driving?

Oh I know that is exactly what they are doing!
Sort of reverse profiling that works to our advantage.

Somewhat, but it's also the unmuffled exhaust, lowered ride height and wheels that stick out past my fenders that worry me. No tickets, but I have been pulled over a few times and hassled for a few things. If a cop decided he wanted to take the time, I could probably get ticketed for a few things.

Guess that's why I don't get tickets! Lot's of speeding in many sports/performance cars. Lots of cop magnets including a yellow 914, a Miata with stripes, 2 red MR2s.

Age 73, last ticket was 1973 ( '68 AMX with stripes)

Yeppers!
It would appear that "older" age + no record =
