So 245 ZIIs rubbed but 245 RS3s did not. I am curious if the taller but slightly thinner 235/45 would rub.

Yeah 245/40
I think I did 3ish events before I saw any indication of them rubbing. It was the Dr side, rear part of the fender liner. I didnt hear it, I just took the wheels off one day and saw that it had rubbed. I didnt have signs of rubbing at the spring, but they were damn close, so 5mm spacer isnt a bad idea.

At first response, yes, they are/were at least available as port options that were, shall we say, poorly advertised.
On this topic. I spoke with Scion Canada and my dealership, and didn't hear anything definitive regarding port installed options.

In fact, the representative of Scion ended our conversation by saying, "As the manufacturer, we are not directly implicated with accessories and the sale of parts. As such, we are unable to provide documentation on it."

So maybe Scion USA will have something else to say, but here things seem dubious.

Really? It has a Toyota part number. You can order it at any Toyota parts counter. I think they just didn't want to deal with your request.

the question isn't whether it's a Toyota part. But whether Toyota considers it OEM equipment and how that consideration is related within the autocross stock (street) rules.

Yah possibly. But they said over and over again that Scion itself had nothing to do with the installs...

Quick, not particularly conclusive update:

My dealer has a 2014 with TRD goodies on it, ordered towards the end of 2014.

Sway bars appear to be confirmed. The PPO code is the same as the order code, HR. Tells me it's both bars for '14, just the rear on the '15.

2015 cars have an order code for the springs, S2.

This paragraph pertains to '14 models. He can't find proof on the lowering springs yet (no 2014s in stock anywhere that have them installed). Still confirming if their car has the springs on it, but if it does, it's not on the Monroney. So, 2014s still have some sort of question mark remaining. Less certain, the manager that ordered that car is "90% sure" that he didn't have the option to order the car from port with the springs, otherwise, he would have. Again, not certainty, though. The digging continues, he's been going through all his literature and the training sites, and is looking for his version of insiders at this point. Lot of work for someone who already sold me the car.

That's pretty much all I have to report right now.

Official docs from Toyota received!
Both part numbers are legal for all years.
Will post docs in a bit once I figure out how to host PDF for download.

Just needed to get to a computer.

Please find attached the pdf copy of an official publication from Toyota's accessories group. Big thanks to Jason I. and Steve M. to help clarify this situation for all.

This letter hereby confirms that the TRD Spring and Sway bar packages have been available as port options for all year FR-Ss to date.

Enjoy!

EDIT: 3/25/15 to update new letter from Toyota.

Didn't realize it's rear sway bar only. No matter, should pair very nicely with my Hotchkis front bar.

Not sure. Most likely a typo from Toyota. The PN is a front/rear sway bar kit, though...Maybe I can ask them for a revision.

If someone wanted to run a TRD front bar and a massive rear bar that would be required... seems irrelevant to me though.

Exactly. Everyone is going to want the rear bar to be their standard part, and then pick their poison of choice up front.

It doesn't change the underlying message which is that the given part number is a standard part.
