AT is good for people who have some sort of physical disability. That's about it.

Heh, gotta love comments like these.

Do at least show a little respect.

I'll be getting an Auto as that's what I want. I've got access to a miata if I feel like driving a manual.

I really enjoyed how my GTI with DSG felt when shifting and even though I understand this one is more of a traditional AT with torque converter it would be nice if they could emulate that feel in the FR-S' AT with some sort of software tweak.
Press the sport button, faster harsher shifts ;p

As I stated in a previous post I did.

Faster yes, harsher no way. I wish it were though.

My apologies, that was rather narrow-minded of me.... should I have included mental disabilities as well?

I strongly urge anyone who has not had the opportunity to really learn and drive a standard car to do so.

When a car that focuses so much on control - precision- connectivity- and impressing the senses, a clutch and gear lever compliment it to the highest degree. No matter how good an auto/pdk/whatever it may be, it will never have the complete control of a stick.

Don't forget, the MT is supposed to be about a half second faster 0 to 60. That has to be an advantage for auto-x.

That being said, I still ordered the Semi-automatic!

If the +/- mode on the gear stick is the other way round (ie. pull for up and push for down), I might consider the AT.

I can't get used to this pull push thing after 4 years in the Golf GTI. It's just not natural. I don't know why they can't have it the correct way like Mazda/BMW etc.

And yes there are paddles but when u turn the steering, they might be in the wrong position and at those moments I prefer to use the gear stick as I don't need to think which way is which. I can't always have my hands at 3/9 o'clock position like a F1 driver.

So after the GTI I swear that my next fun car will be a MT.

I know exactly what you mean! Up on the lever should downshift, and down should upshift - like a racing transmission. I still can't get used to it driving Audis with Tiptronic or S-Tronic dual clutch autos.

It's Porsche's fault. They kinda set the precedent with their tiptronic in the 964.

Especially something so integral to the driving experience for me?

I don't care if people buy the AT car though.
I feel exactly the same way. I compromised with my wife once and bought an automatic 2002 Altima 3.5 SE while living in Washington DC (crazy heavy traffic).. I regretted it the day I bought the car and it was the last time I ever bought an automatic car for myself.
Even in ridiculous traffic, I say give me a manual... Like you, I actually enjoy shifting the car and having that feedback and control with the car.. I have been driving manuals for 22 years and hope I drive them for 40 more...

But I get why people buy autos and don't blame them..

From Moto-san's info, you can switch em around (-down, +up to +down, -up), so that's not a problem.
