Or more accurately; more than one person has claimed to have gone through that sequence of events.

But seriously, why do people think anyone is interested in "I'm thinking about buying another car"? Why are people even responding to these threads?
Personally, I'm looking for a cheap, used awd pickup truck with a trailer hook, because I have use for it. Anyone here care about that? I don't think so. Do I crave your opinion on that? Sorry, no.

Actually I can see somebody with an established track record here that knows and trusts other's opinions asking for their thoughts on a choice.
What makes no sense is the ass hat that doesn't know any of us from dirt throwing out a vague, ill thought out, quasi question that they don't really want an opinion on anyway!
If you were over here and asked "hey guys looking for a truck any good or bad ones?" you would get some respectful honest answers. You would also get some crap but having been here a while you would know which is which.

I'm basically looking for a Toyota Hilux with no serious rust problems!
Thanks for asking :-)

But it's the wrong forum for that!
Ok, maybe you're right. Maybe it's just me. I know a little about cars. I do my own research, I test and inspect, I pay cash, I drive it until I sell it. End of story.

Hook, line, sinker.

But really, check out Nissan Hardbodies of the same era, seriously underrated especially with all the Top Gear Hilux hype (They used the competing Nissan to cross the English Channel).

Me too (well the fix it part is limited these days) but if I was say looking for a STIi I would ask some of the guys here for their thoughts in a heartbeat. I may totally disregard those thoughts but they could also be very valuable to my research.
I lurked here and learned a pile of things before I took delivery of my car and it helped me decide I was doing the right thing. Mind you I just read page after page of info without coming on and having a very first post that said "hey guys looking at a FRS what do you think?"

Yeah, I'm open for Nissan and possibly even Mitsubishi if I find one with low mileage.

1970 Datsun! One of the best darn little trucks ever made!

I did the very same thing. There were heaps of solid information here in 2013. Probably still here, just buried in rocket bunny/camber/plastidip.

Got most of my valuable info from some guy called Ubersuber!
My suspension and tire pressure have never been the same since.
