JRSC/catless P&L EL header/overpipe/hi-flow cat front pipe/Q300 can
Immediate neighbors know when I start the car in the (North East) winter, but moving right after the start helps bring noise down quickly. Quiet on cruise and noticeably louder but not too loud with some rasp on higher RPMs/WOT. Probably lost some baffling in 9mo of street/ax/track. |

I have a pretty stupid question (already out of ideas trying to fix those issues with fuel trims
).The new high-performance PCV valve, which is installed into the PCV hose, is one direction. Do I understand correctly - it stops air blowing FROM intake manifold, but allows it in, right? Here's the picture: Are the arrows correct? |

Thank you for the confirmation @sw20kosh.
Can anybody post their data logs with JR SC & CARB tune please? I was told the tune may actually be at the richer side, but I don't have any data to compare. Mine seems to run too rich. The fuel trims keep misbehaving. LTFT consistently drifts to -25 and below, and eventually causes P0172.

Looked like there was a small leak in the vacuum cap where the vacuum tee was connected (on the MT cars there is a vacuum hose, on my automatic there is just a cap). The cap was slightly damaged I guess when I removed it to install the tee. I replaced it three days ago, but I wonder if there could be any permanent damage because of that leak being there for several months. I will double-check the PCV hoses. |

Had an uber odd issue with a JRSC kit equipped FRS yesterday...
Twice the car has come in with complaints of "rich" codes being triggered (CARB tune). I had already trapped the event happening at the onset of boost (transition from closed to open loop). I have seen this before and it can be as simple as rotating the MAF sensor housing. Visit one: The car had the old silicone intake hose (instead of the new pipe). So first thing we did was clean the MAF and swap the tube for the pipe. Next we rotated the MAF (trying different positions). This helped some, and also made it worse depending on rotation. In the end the we were not pleased with the -20% fuel Long Term Learned fuel trim, but it was not throwing a code. Visit 2: At the car would no longer communicate. 4 different lap tops and cables, 3 different scanners and my Solus. Nothing would talk. We requested JR send over the CARB tune in a zipped file so we could verify no corruption in the map and re-flash with the newest version of EcuTeK software. Visit 3: The reflash appeared successful. Until we revved it up. Then the fuel trims went haywire again and the car was uber rich (-35%). So, after speaking with Oscar Sr and Jr we decided to remove all 4 aftermarket HID ballasts from the car. It worked. It would appear the RF interference from the DDM Tuning HID kits (4 of them) was causing corruption in the communication. The issue went away as soon as the HID's were disconnected. I am now waiting for some feedback from the customer. He was planning on swapping out the HID's for LED's. He will continue to monitor the fuel trims and report back. For now, any owners who might be experiencing odd issues like this might want to check the install of their aftermarket HID's (if so equipped). |
