I let it seep until it was just barely coming out, and then buttoned it up. Car was absolutely level. I even double checked with a level on the door sill and pinch seam to make sure since I was getting nervous.

I never could feel it with my finger at all...which is what was making me nervous. Still not totally comfortable with it, but if it was still seeping out after cleaning the hole and threads with a rag...it had to have been full.

Working on diff now...

I wouldn't sweat it...if it was level, you put in at least 2.2L and fluid started to come out, it had to have been full.

I appreciate the feedback.

Rear diff went without a hitch. Almost exactly 1.1qts. Good to go.

Transmission is in bad shape. Either there is definitely somehow NOT enough fluid, or the car absolutely hates AMSOIL Manual Transmission and Transaxle Gear Lube.

Car is notchy in ever gear, slightly grinds 5th when I put it in, and I can slightly hear the trans whining when driving. It's never been like this. I don't know how in the world it couldn't have enough fluid, but something isn't right. I have .15qts left of the fluid, which I doubt will do any good.

Am I able to mix the trans fluid and AMSOIL Sever Gear fluid I put in the rear diff? I have plenty of that left.

Thoughts?

Do not drive it. 100% do-over. Are you certain the car was level in roll as well as pitch?

No. GL-5 is ok to use in non-synchromesh transmissions containing only steel components (racing, sequential transmissions) but the high-pressure additives will actually accelerate wear of synchros.

Drain that fluid, get some Motul 300, add 2.3 qts., call it a day.

I've had zero issues with Amsoil. I would highly recommend redoing the gear oil change. If you do go with amsoil again then I recommend getting the little pump made for gallon jugs of oil, it fits on amsoil quarts and can be found at NAPA and advance auto parts.

When you do drain it be sure to do so into an empty container the measure how much came out. That is the best way to see how much you had in there. Too much is just as bad as not enough.

I used a pump that I bought online that was suppose to fit any standard 1qt size container. The AMSOIL containers aren't standard size. In the end, I just transferred the fluid to another bottle and used that, which worked perfectly fine.

Car was absolutely level. Maybe I'll try the Motul. All gears are shifting fine now, but it still grinds going into 5th...which it never did before. So odd...

Amsoil containers use the same openings as most gallon jugs of oil.

It's good to hear that its starting to feel better, I haven't driven my car much lately due to work and all the snow banks blocking my view getting out of the house. It has been over 10k miles since I put Amsoil in. I may do another change here pretty quick to see how things look.

grinding? Potentially.

Unless your trans REALLY grinds, I would try swapping fluid first before trying to convince the dealer they need to replace.

What issue are you experiencing?

whenever i make a left turn, and this is only when i start up the car, i feel a grinding/vibration/catching in the rear left wheel. After i turn it the first time it goes away after that until another cold start.

and i meant changing the differential fluid because thats what it seems like it is, if it fluid needs to be changed would the dealer cover that? or would i have to buy my own? its just a matter of saving 80 bucks.

That's the Torsen mechanism locking down the diff. You can prove it for yourself. Tomorrow morning set yourself up so you can coast through the same corner. Zero grab.

Works as designed because racecar.
