Reasons you sold/or are going to sell your brz/frs

& FRS/BRZ are really the same, despite brz having higher trim model. it is a sports car with little comfort unlike ur BMW.

Why does having kids factor into the equation? It will take a couple years for their legs to even reach the end of the back seat, car seat will fit easily right?

My dad has been driving a mustang as his daily driver since i was in 3rd grade, and I played football, basketball, wrestling, lacrosse.. you name it. He threw my crap in the trunk and ferried me back and forth for all that stuff, so I guess to me, it's never even been considered an issue.

Well I am likely to get rid of mine this weekend. I autocrossed a Miata for a season. Then I got the BRZ and drove it all last year. I was planning on AX'ing and tracking for 1 more year and then moving on to a Cayman or Vette depending on what skill set I wanted to work on first.


But I just found a 987 with a 3800 RUF conversion. Which is basically a Cayman/Boxster with a tuned 911 engine in it. The wife already tracks a Cayman, but now I get to have mine. The BRZ is great and I learned a lot driving her. But I cant let this 987 slip through my fingers.


Its just time to move up. But that being said I have embarrassed plenty of average/slightly good drivers in vettes and P-cars. But when I run both the BRZ and the wifes Cayman on the same course, I am usually 3 seconds faster in the Porsche. So there you go.

I love my FRS but will positively trade up for a Focus ST in a couple of years when this is paid off. I never thought I'd need the backseat/trunk space as much as I do. It is a fun, simple car but I would like something a little more fully loaded, 4 door and faster.

At stock it is, thou those CEL post do worry me.

Due to little sound insulation + boxer engine, the engine makes more strange noise then typical everyday inline 4. Plus facorty tune is very sensitive to bad gas at US west, I'm almost certain the car always knocks whenever it gets bad gas so I have a stock of octane booster at home.

I thought about getting a Fiesta ST in a few years.....seems to be very fun & practical.

From what I understand a rear facing car seat will fit, but not without some finneagling and the passenger seat up pretty far. Basically its a big pain in the ass.

Would it be possible? Yea probably. Would it be fun to put up with as my wife tells me how she was under the impression that I'd be getting a more pratical car when we had kids? Not likely.

Best case I can keep the BRZ as a fun car and get a fun commuter/kid hauler.

I didn't think the rear facing child seat would be a thing, but now that i'm daily putting the kid in and out, it is cumbersome to get the kid in and out. Having the kid in is fine. But the wrangling in an out is what sucks.

I also desperately miss my sti. I freakin loved that thing and shouldn't have sold it.

I wonder if I could get 21k for my 10k mile non-abused, garaged, not really modded car. Then I could buy a used GR sti for that.

I had an 04. I got it with 6k miles on it. I had it for a long time and then sold it to save money on gas on my crappy long commute (converted it into a miata and a hybrid civic...yes the one with the lawsuit and the not-as-great-gas-mileage-as-it-should-have-had). Then a few months after that moved across the country and bought an e36 m3 that I hated and tried desperately to like.

I like the GR because it is a hatch. My wife likes it because she hated the look of the GD. And I think the new sti looks like a corolla with a wing.

I miss the rumble and the goofy amount of power and the utility of putting crap in the back and the ability to go offroad a little.

You pretty much described mine, I paid 22 and was happy with the deal. Mine's a limited though and it had tint and clear bra. Idk what options you have.

I looked into a great many performance cars while awaiting the verdict on my hail damage repairs. They all had interesting 'advantages' over the twins, but none gave the same feeling as I get from my FR-S. I'd sell my car for a better handling car, or perhaps if my life changes, a nice small upright wagon/suv. Forester XT with an STi swap or a Mini Countryman S, are my top others waiting in the wings, but right now its all 'twins' for me...
