Figure I would add to this instead of creating a new thread.

Is anyone out there running a ethanol content analyzer to monitor the ethanol content with OFT? I've done some searching but cannot seem to find anything. I do understand flex fuel is not required with oft.

Basically I'm solely interested in having the gauge in the car & knowing what E% is running through the car while on the stage 2 e85 tune.

not that I know of, but having a E% reader/display would be helpful...so we don't have to stress about %, since anything over e60 is sufficient for our car.
I've thought about picking one up, but it just hasnt bugged me enough yet haha.

Also guys, keep in mind that the new update for the OFT will let us flash maps in an estimated 3 Minutes, compared to about 8 minutes before.

Will make switching maps at the pump 100x easier...well, not "easier" but less of a hassle to swap between 92/93 and e85 since we can do it while the car fills up!

I'm on my 3rd tank of e85 and im noticing my LTFT at idle now sits at 11.71%. It was around 7-10% before. I know anything above 10 is no good. What can it be?

arguably anything above the ~5% is no good.

Your options are to either rescale the maf, buy a flexfuel kit + wideband o2 kit, or continue to check for knock and monitor your afrs. Remember fuel trims go off of variances of your afr vs commanded afr, which may not need to be followed to a T if your afr's under OL/CL are within spec. Richer the better.. shouldn't be seeing any knock on E85 with a conservative setup.

I'd try rescaling the MAF, at least once. Then look at knock after that, pulling timing as needed. Possibly look at IAT and load comp after that

Oh god. Ok so far I've seen no knock. At 50mph 10% throttle AFR is 15:1 and LTFT sits at 2-3%. At rest/idle LTFT is anywhere from 13-17%. Idk how to rescale MAF or anything. Am I causing harm running it like this for a few days? @Koa

My car is on the OFT stage 2 EL E85 tune. Only mod I have is a straight pipe catback with resonated mid pipe. Intake is stock.

Wouldn't scale MAF in america on e85..

As for the idle, that is when everything gets hot. IAT compensation sets in, but still in close loop control.

Not too bad, idling is rather on the high side. Under 10 would be better.

I just installed the stage 1 tune and while it is a great tune; I really wanted to see what E85 (POWER) was all about.

I read of some people claiming they are running E85 on a stock car, but I read other post saying you shouldn't. When I asked Shiv, he told me that it's not recommended to run stage 2 E85 on a stock car, because stage 2 is for aftermarket headers. (Seems to be the guy to listen too)

However, I do believe there are people still running Stage 2 EL E85 tunes on a completely STOCK car.

In short I created this thread to find out the truth of E85 being used on a stock car.

Thank you for all your help!!!
I've at least driven 8,000 of my 30,000 on E85 and I have had no problems at all. Cept my exhaust note seems quieter on 91 and louder on E85, which I can't complain about.

What you need to do is focus on load and rpm- the car's engine doesn't care about what gear you are in or road speed.. the two factors that work into most of the engine's logic are load and rpm.

Check out @steve99 's threads

One glaring thing that sticks out to me is that your vehicle isn't in perfect working order and before trying to tune around it, make 100% sure the vehicle is mechanically sound. I'd personally take it to a tuner and spend the couple hundred dollars to get focused, in-person attention. Hope it gets sorted!

If your fuel trims are fine every ehere else except arround idle dont sweat.

worst that will happen with high fuel trims at idle is a bit of hesitation.

if those high fuel trims were at med to high rpm and load then i would be concerned.

@Koa What would be abnormal engine load?
@steve99 ok thanks, yea throttle response from rest is sluggish. I felt really good throttle response on my stage 1 93oct tune. I had a quarter tank of 93 left when I filled up with e85 my first time. So I'm thinking it has something to do with that. I need to run this tank completely empty and have pure e85.
