But yeah there are cheap helmets out there for 200$ or less. Dont buy a used one.
I have done track days for Motorcycles, Karts, and Autos...and they have never asked about my helmet. The only time I have seen anyone questioned was when someone tried to use a helmet that was cracked...lol. Typically, the enforcement of race track rules is on the organizers of the event and not typically on the race track itself. All rules are stated when you enter the event, but typically you sign a waiver when you go to the event anyways, so if you get hurt it is difficult to sue the event organizers or the track itself (basically if you become a vegetable, it is your own problem...maybe the guy/girl who hit you too, but you are on your own for the most part). If you are in an actual race of some sort (WERA, SCCA, WSMC(extinct), etc), they will check your equipment. If it is a brand they recognize, they will just eyeball it. If it is something they don't recognize then they will be more thorough in checking certifications. I am not a believer of buying a cheap helmet as there are so many sales out there in this bad economy. Trying to spend less money for a brand of helmet that the average person has never heard of (and probably never seriously been tested) vs spending maybe $50-100 more for a reputable brand does not seem to make sense considering the importance of what you are putting into that helmet, but I guess every person values that and having a normal everyday life differently....sorry, getting off my soapbox now...

Hopefully the link below is helpful for anyone looking for a helmet. It is a reputable shop that anyone who rides a motorcycle should know. They do mail order for those who are too far to drive and typically have a lot of sales...and yes, I did see a $99 helmet, but I don't believe anyone's head is worth only $99....sorry, just looking out for people...

There are definitely many other places to go to. Please shop around. There are sales everywhere.

Also another tip. Go to a shop and try om helmets. Because every brand sizing is not the same as the next. And once youve tried and found oje to your liking, shop online. They are most likely cheaper than in store. Ok done.
