Bumper Repainted

So a few months back the dealer caused a little bit of damage to my front bumper & I got them to repaint the bumper free of charge. It looked great when I saw it & then someone pointed out to me that the bumper looks dull in comparison to the other paint. After taking a closer look, the paint kinda looks uhm foggy? The paint matches fine to me but the "sheen" seems to differ from plastic to metal, I realize there will be a difference because they are different materials but they look too different. Also I should mention I'm slightly colorblind.

What do you guys think? Or is this just my OCD kicking in o.o

I can tell a difference in the third picture. Remember that the bumper is fiberglass (? or plastic?) and the hood is aluminum (so are the fenders? my car has been away for 4 months, I don't remember...), so that could contribute to the fogginess that you are seeing.

On that note, had I not been looking for a difference I probably wouldn't have noticed.

Looks like heavier orange peel on the new paint. A good detailer should be able to polish that out so it matches better.

Doesn't that require wet sanding? Scary business :s

Cheap, fast drying clear dies out like that. You can sand and polish it up though. Just a pain to do on bumpers

Yeah unfortunately it got repainted thru the Toyota Dealership. Wish I woulda noticed it, lesson learned I guess.

So would I go to a paint and body shop or a detailing shop?

Good detailing shop will fix that up for you in no time.
Seen far worse than that come up perfect.

Its probably just orange peel, but if it wasn't like that before and is getting worse with time, it may be your paint pinching. This is becoming very common with water based paints. Either way, just take it back to the Toyota dealership and tell them to color sand it for you. They can do it there, any real detailer does it on a regular basis. It wouldn't take more than an hour or two. If they won't do it for you, just send me a PM and I'll help you out with it!
